Default Offline client bidding on £2.5 Million project - because of my work!

Hi All,

I have been working with local businesses in the offline niche for about a year now, and I have had great pleasure in helping them get more clients, even in a recession, but this one blew me away.

I was helping one of my clients tweek his website the other day (a customised wordpress site), and he told me that he is now getting daily enquiries from the website, as well as from a portal that I own on which he is listed.

He told me that his workload and revenue are up more than 40% on last year, and we're only in month 5! But what is even better is that he has had an enquiry about a huge job. I asked him how much that job is worth should he get it.

He got his calculator out and when he showed me the answer both his and my jaws dropped - the answer £2.5 Million (that's about $3.8 Million)!!

He told me that if he didn't have this website he wouldn't have even known about this project let alone been asked to tender for it!

And you know what is better than the money I make from him? It's the satisfaction of knowing that I had helped him get all this extra work and that really feels good. OK, he hasn't got the job yet, but he is so thrilled at just having the opportunity to tender for the project.

My point is, if you're interested in the offline gold niche, stop procrastinating - get out there and do it!

I wish you success.

Tim

Nice story.

This is the best part of working with brick and mortar businesses...genuinely helping them increase their sales and profits and build the kind of business THEY want.

Business owners you help make serious money will also hire you over and over again to implement other ideas you come up with.

Kindest regards,
Andrew Cavanagh

Yes, and I have you to thank for it Andrew, as your thread back in New Year 2007 started me off on this route. I can't thank you enough.

I like the return to talking about how you can genuinely help business owners that your post puts out.

There have been way too many schemes in the offline niche with people just trying to make a quick buck out of business owners.

Help business owners make real money and you'll get referrals, they'll hire you over and over and you'll sleep sound at night.

Everyone wins.

Kindest regards,
Andrew Cavanagh

Impressive, to say the least! NOW, go get that client to write you a glowing testimonial! Even if they don't get that particular business, your online savvy put them in the spotlight and you can do the same for others!

Ask for referalls! That business owner should refer you to every single soul they ever met, even if they don't get the business. And if they do get it, more power to you (and them).

Sometimes, when you try to justify your fees, be it $175, $300 or $5,000, that is peanuts to their income potential. I wish I knew a simple JV strategy where you could charge them a minimal fee for your work but if they hit it big, you'd profit too.

Any suggestions, anyone ?

Already got the testimonial, and he's doing a good job on the referal front too. Even if he doesn't get this particular job, he has seen a huge increase in enquiries and work because he has a high ranking and informative website.

I have to admit I chanced my arm with this one, because I quoted over the top for this particular website, but you know what is much better than the money he paid me, it's the satisfaction of knowing that I have helped him grow his business, it's a great feeling.

I have no suggestions about the JV but, you could suggest a commission only contract!

Thanks, actually when he told me I jokingly said that I should have charged him more, his response was, "when I get the job, you can be sure that I'll take care of that!".

Also, he has continued to pay me more, even though I haven't asked for it, he wants to keep the relationship going and make sure that his website stays on the first page of google, simply because he has seen the value of being there!

All the best.
