Free Ways to Build A List

Have been reading that building a list is essential from day one. I am on day 324 and do not have a list building method for my blog and realize that I am behind the curve on this one. To date, the only way that I am aware of building a list is through a paid service like Aweber. Is this accurate? Think they charge like $20 a month? Anything cheaper and good. Any recommendations?

  • China,

The opporuntities available to you to build a list for free will hinge your level of knowledge. Can you build landing pages? Can you write? If so you could make an ebook that is appealing to your target market and then offer it for download in exchange for contact info.

    Best,

    Aweber, Getresponse, GVO.

I can't comment on GVO but I currently use both Aweber and Getresponse.

Yes they are paid services but once you start focusing on building a list you
will be able to more than cover that small investment.

Don't allow that to put you off.

You can get a $1 trial for the first month so have a look to see if it is still
    available with Aweber or Getresponse.

That's what I did when I first started but that was such a long time ago now.

You are right that building a list is a solid and dependable way to build a
    profitable online business around.

You just need to set up a high converting squeeze page, have a good strong
free offer to help you build your list and then have at least one to two paid
offers behind it so you can start buying traffic.

This gives you the chance to at least break even or make a profit at the front
end of your funnel and this allows you to buy more bigger traffic numbers,
add more buyers into your list and build your list ten times faster than usual.

Hope this helps clear any confusion and good luck my friend.

I would really recommend Aweber. You can get the first month for $1, and it'll pay off big time. Alternatively you could try Mailchimp which is a free solution however you need to read their terms carefully as they don't take too kindly to internet marketers.

The thing about email marketing; once you start, it's tough to stop; or change to another service.

The reason I say that is because everyone looks for free ways to build an email list. The best free way i've heard of is ListWire.com.

But I don't recommend them simply because I've never used them.

When you use free services sometimes, the quality isn't good (hence the term "you get what you pay for"). From there you search for a paid alternative but now you have to move your list over. This is where it gets hectic.

Aweber will require that everyone confirm that they want to be on your list when importing a list. Most people may not confirm.

I use GVO and they're awesome. I switched a list over to them and they do it without the confirmation message. They ask for your login information to Aweber though so they can confirm themselves if your list is really valid (or at least that's what they say). I did it and everything went smooth.

So basically what I'm saying is when you're starting out, you want to start out with a good paid service because it could be tough as nails trying to switch everything over once you've gotten started.

    Hope that helps

PS. and I love Aweber. They are always doing really cool updates and have amazing customer service. They're blog will give you a lot of tips on email marketing also.

PPS. To build a list, I recommend using videos on YouTube. I do this for one of my niches and get 15 to 30 optins per day. Just because my video is on the first page of Google
