who do I hire to transcribe/edit an audio file

I have an audio interview that I want transcribed, edited, formatted for me. I want to take that and publish it as a physical book. Anyone have a good service they've used for this type of thing?

Have a look on elance.com. You can usually find people there who do transcribing. There are some fiverr gigs around, too.

you can hire a well voiced actor and use program such as Dragon Naturally Speaking to make his voice into text.

However the program needs to be set for the voice, which will take some time.

I was hoping for something that was a prepackaged solution so I don't have to worry about selecting bidders/fiver/software etc. I just want to deliver my audio and have them deliver me a book. Anyone know of a prepackaged service like this?

There are lots of sites to find freelancers who will do this for you. You can get it on the cheap at Fiverr.com, and there are a lot of well rated transcribing gigs over at Fiverr that offer good quality for money. Alternatively, you may find someone on here willing to do this or at oDesk or elance.

Something simple like that, I would head to Fiverr my friend. Just find someone with a lot of good feedback that can get it done within the time frame you desire.

I have hired transcriptionist from three places with success...

1.) Wanted - Members Looking To Hire You (there is a $5 fee per thread to post in this section)
    2.) http://www.Odesk.com
3.) Fiverr: Graphics, marketing, fun, and more online services for $5

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

You'll find plenty of people who will do a good job on this on Fiverr.
I would not use Elance for something like this as it will get expensive.

You can find people on Fiverr that will do this. However, you might have to order a few gigs for the different parts like transcribing it, editing and formatting it. You could probably find someone on Freelancer, oDesk or elance that could do the whole job in one. I'm not sure what would cost you more, but make sure you are getting a quality service whatever option you opt for.

    Hi,
There is, also Fourerr.com. Just like Fiverr.com, but, they charge $4 instead of $5. Look for good feedback and good rating.

They are not the cheapest but we have had consistently good performance from Cabbage Tree Solutions, a provider you can find on Elance.com.

      Hope that helps.

I will do it....I'm a court reporter, so that's basically what I do for a living.....but I sure as shit am not going to do it for 5 bucks.....You get what you pay for. Of course, it's it's short enough (i.e. a page).....then yeah, I'll do it for 5 bucks...anything more than that.....4 bucks a page (25 lines, double spaced)

I can also proofread your stuff and edit it (and god knows most people need that)

        Cheers,

        Gina

          Even that is cheap.
Back in the 90s, it was about $10/page to get it done professionally,

hey, you can hire freelancer's from reliable sites like odesk, elance and freelancer. You can get an idea of it from
http://www.mytechlogy.com/profession...transcription/ but my suggestion would be to go with automatic software which would be easy and quick

Upload it to youtube. Then you can hire out the simple editing/formatting, removing time codes etc.... then do a final proofread/edit yourself.

Do not use fiverr... too expensive for that. Better look at Freelancer or Odesk.
