Directory submissions,social bookmark submissions..what to do with my blog?Need some advice please.

Hi,

I am a little bit lost what would be the best option to generate some extra traffic.
Many people are talking about directory submissions,i see also some services here on this forum.
Would it be valuable for my blog to submit it to 1000 directories or is this just for normal websites?

And how does those social bookmarking sites work?

I was thinking to use some services like social bookmark submissions and directory submissions.
Will this also create backlinks or what?

    To generate traffic your blog should target keywords. Submitting to directories only gives you link juice for the name of your website. So if you website is yourname.com, your site might appear if someone searched for your name. But whos gonna do that right ?. People don't really search names unless the person is real important (not to say your not important )

    What you need for you blog is ALL IN ONE SEO pack and sitemap plugin.

    When you make a post eg "How do train a dog to be good"
    Search google keyword tool for search terms and "dog training" will probably have thousands of searches.

    Now when you social book mark it. Make the title "Dog training" even though its "How do train a dog to be good". It's long tail but the chances are no one is searching that term. "Dog training" they will.

    Directories wont help unless the anchor text is your targetted keyword. Most directories only accept infor about the site based on the name of your website.

    Richard,
    I have not submitted a website to a search directory in over 8 years... Yep I do not waste my time as my sites are picked up anyways without the waste of time submitting..

    You need to make sure you have a sitemap, the SEO ALL-IN-ONE mentioned above is good, also add a link to your site map in your robots.txt file.

    Once you have SEO in and Sitemap / robots.txt created, then you can use many different services to ping your website. Once they are pinged then make sure you have fresh content and submit your RSS feed to directories.

    Once that is done make sure you create an account at digg and clipmarks and bookmark your site as it will be indexed in google within 30 minutes or less (some report a few hours).

    Once done then you want to make sure your authority bookmark your main blog.

    research first.
    When you submit to the 1000 sites-it is important
    to submit with proper keywords, because if you don't
    the 1000$ backlinks will do you no good.

    Most multiple directory submission services... i.e. 1,000 directory submissions for only $20 are either scams, or crappy directories.

    Remember, all directories aren't created equal. Some of them can do more harm than good.

    You ought to look into submitting each and everyone of your posts to the blog carnivals.

    There's a deal in the WSO for only $10 for Blog Carnival Submission Software.

    You'd be most correct to bookmark every piece of content for your blog as many times and in as many places as possible.

    Perhaps your blog could use a brother, sister and cousin blog as in a blog farm?
