I was wondering....

Where do news site get their content? I mean do they have their sources or do they research daily local news? and how are they able to gather all the news since there are ton of news daily going around.

I also have another question that is unrelated.

What is good with turning articles into videos?

For new content they either buy there content or research you own topic and write it yourself.

As far as articles to video there plenty of programs to do that.
I.E. Turn any article to video with animation, music, graphics, and a full voice-over for just $1!

There are a number of news networks (i.e. Associated Press, Reuters, etc) that create and compile the stories, then resell access to them.

And, of course, there are thousands of local newspapers, tv & radio, and web properties that generate mainly local content. Some are affiliated with larger networks (i.e. ABC, Fox, CNN, NBC, etc), some are independent.

I would say those are the two major sources.

Are these sites able to compile specific topics and or localities? Like can they only compile sports stories for me? and like only from a specific country?

Wait so from this, I am thinking that I'll be getting the stories late? like a day behind

So just browsing known news sites can also be used to make content for your own content site then you just rewrite the news?

Some themes especially newsletter and mag themes you can do a plugin that will fetch rss feeds on news sites and the content auto populate and I think that is what you were looking for.

I do not suggest doing it though unless you just need some filler content and you have plenty of unique content.

What is good with turning articles into videos?

Are you asking what is good about it or programs that do that.
I usually make a video and have it narrated but it can work both ways. I use freelancers.
You could use a simple powerpoint program and do a screen recording off a slide show.

It's all about links and they are just using youtube to there advantage is what is good about it.

The big news sites have full staffs of writers. As in real journalism going on
where their out there finding and reporting on news stories.

Then, there's aggregators and curators. Curators are keeping their finger on
the pulse of news, finding the stories they want to "leverage" and adding
their own twist to the original content, posting the original content and giving
credit to the originator of that content. (this model is a bit scary because
of the potential legalities of it all)

If you really want to keep an eye on someone in our space doing a nice job
of this, pay attention to Harlan Kilstein and.... there's a couple others that
slip my mind right now. But, Harlan is doing some big things in the curated
      content (and original content) models.

      Hope that helps!

I have an authority site in the solar energy niche. My news section pulls news from a few different solar energy news sites using a plugin for wordpress. It works well to keep my site updated, and even brings in organic traffic too.

Do you still rewrite the content or do they get posted as is?

The content will not be original that way right? What are some good themes/plugins you can recommend if I were to start a news website

My question is what good turning articles to videos do...like what benefit can you get from them?

      Thanks
