Opinions on sticking to just one market/niche?

Hi, I am currently marketing in the golf niche, and doing pretty decent as far.

I always hear people on this forum talking about the many products/niches they promote like "make money niche" or "Weight Loss niche"

To be honest, I personally would just like to stick to the one market (golf) as I have a passion and knowledge as well as being pretty damn good at the game.

But I wanted to ask, am I limiting my potential as an internet marketer by sticking to only one market? am I limiting my earning potentials doing so?

Is there other marketers here who have always just stuck with there one niche and have tons of success? Also is their marketers who stuck with the one niche for a long time and found only when they widened their scope of marketing did they begin to see great financial income?

Very interested to hear warriors opinions/experiences on the matter

    diizle,

If you're starting to see success in one niche and you're passionate about it,
etc, than by all means...STICK WITH WHATS WORKING!!

If you start in another niche, you'r going to dilute your time and energy
and it will take you twice as long to have success in 2 niches.

    Just my opinion of course....

My advice, is stay the course until you know with absolute certainty that
by pursuing other niches your original niche won't suffer.

    Prosperous regards my friend!

If you have room for growth with what you enjoy why not just stick with it? It's good to have a passion in what you do, it makes work a lot easier.

My honest opinion is, stick with one niche until you manage to master it.
Once you've mastered that one, what's going to stop you from transferring your skills over to multiple other niches/companies and exponentially increasing your profits. If that's what your seeking.
Like me personally I just got into the industry, I'm slowly learning and taking my time with one niche, and once I find real results and am educated enough to easily go over to another, then I know that beginning with another will be a lot more stress free!
      Hope this helped!

Don't jump on one niche to another. Stick with your plan. If that plan really works, just stick to it until you finally succeed. Don't put all eggs in one basket or silver platter.

Well, if your business cannot run on its own yet, then you shouldn't be thinking of going off to build another one. Instead, think of how you can streamline and grow your business. What should be eliminated, substituted or added?

There are TONS of internet marketers who have just stuck to just 1 niche and built an empire over it. For example, Mike Geary's TruthAboutAbs was doing 11 million annually (the last update).

It definitely didn't come easy. It takes a huge bunch of effort and continuous perseverance over years to get to an income like that. It's never overnight. It's the same for offline businesses or any kind of venture.

If you're working for 7-figures and beyond, it is definitely reasonable to build multiple streams of income. But that's a very hasty move for anyone who has not at least reached 6 figures. Besides, you only move on when you see that growth is automatic, but stumped.

  • Stick to one niche (one you're passionate about it) and become an authority in it.

It's FAR more profitable to run 1 authority site in 1 niche, than to run a bunch of half-baked sites in 10 different niches.

Those are tremendously good reasons for sticking to it.

Possibly, in the long run; it's hard to know. It's quite likely that if golf is your knowledge and your passion, no other niche is going to be as successful for you as golf. But it doesn't necessarily follow from that, that no other niche is worth your while tryng at all. However, if you're doing ok with golf (and it's obviously a really "big niche": I'm not even sure if it's a "niche" or a "market") I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to diversify while you can still easily build that one.

I'm kind of "in-between". I started off with two niches, one which was (and still is) my "big niche" and "big enthusiasm" and another smaller one because I wanted two, on the "eggs and baskets principle" (this probably wasn't the right thing for me to do). Then, over the last 5 years, I've gradually and slowly added other niches, all completely unrelated, but built them in the same way by attracting substantially similar traffic demographics. I now have 8 entirely separate niches altogether and am not about to add another new one. But that first one is by quite some margin my "biggest and best" out of the 8. And not just because it's one of the two longest-established niches in my business.

It's a difficult question to answer, without knowing a lot more about you (and in my case without knowing anything about golf - because they don't even let people like me on their precious grass in case my shoes damage it  :p ), but I'd suggest probably that you should wait another 6-12 months before thinking about branching out into an unrelated niche, anyway. Especially if you're doing ok with this one!

And having said all that, I also don't disagree at all with what AA just said above.

In fact, most of the marketers who've made it big online have become authorities in their respective niche instead of spreading their efforts across multiple niches.

Dizzle, the golf market has so many niches within it that it would take you several lifetimes to tap them all.

As Alexa mentioned, think in terms of demographics. There are so many ways to slice and dice the golf market, from men/women, lefty/righty, age, competitive level (from young hotshots like yourself who shoot the lights out to occasional duffers like myself who struggle to shoor our age on the front nine).

If you do want to branch out into other markets, there's definitely room to do so and stay under the golf umbrella. How about vacation golf (travel market)? Exercises for improved strength, flexibility and range of motion (fitness market)? Golf as a channel for networking and doing business ("wealth" market)?

You're only limited by your imagination...

  • Stick with your niche. You're already meeting two fundamental principles required to be successful in this industry. You've built your business around your passion and you're making money with it! Just scale it up.

That being said you are putting all your eggs in one basket. So be sure that your traffic is diversified and not just coming from Google. If it is then you're at risk of any number of their furry updates even if you're doing the "right" things. So be sure you have other sources of traffic like solo ads, social media, etc. Master one source of traffic, then move on to the other so your traffic sources are pretty balanced.

And be sure you're building a responsive list as well!

You're doing great! Keep it up!

Okay i agree with most of the people here, that you should stick to your first category, but what if you can do better with the other,

I think its worth a shot..

Dont give full attention to the second category, but still do work on it twice a week and keep your preference on your golf blog/site.

See if the second one seems to have any potential or you can just scrap that off. But from my point of view, you should try atleast one other category that you are comfortable with

Personally, my mind doesn't allow me to 'focus on one thing' at a time. I prefer the ability to jump around. People are giving their typical arbitrary 'BS' rules that are nothing more than a matter of preference.

I say work on as many niches as you can effectively.

You'd be surprised how many sub-niches are in the niche you've picked. There are multiple opportunities for branching out into similar areas - but never stray too far from the money nest!
