List building Strategy

I have an idea of what I wanted to do for a list building strategy. My plan is to make an online book club that gives my readers free ebooks every week once they sign up on my opt-in/squeeze page. I am new at this and it will be my first shot at list building. I was thinking that maybe just an ebook would not be enough to send out in my weekly newsletter. What are some strategies on finding out more about what ebook readers are looking for? Do you think this is a worthwhile attempt? Your replies are very much appreciated. Thank you!

Giving a ebook a week away maybe too much. You'll figure that out as you go. Also, it's not the amount of what you give away that matters, it's what you give away and how it affects people.

If you know your market well, start there and once you get a decent amount of subscribers, start taking survey's asking them what they are interested in. You could always create "short" stories ebooks and sell those based on what people are telling you that want to read.

Also, how do you plan on monetizing the list?

Great insight. A quiz would be perfect. The main way I plan on monetizing the list would be giving away good ebooks that have my affiliate offers in them, and maybe once and awhile plugging a new and interesting product or idea them may be interest in.

I think this could work out well since you offering a free eBook then you tend to attract more sign ups or sign ins and in the process you get you list.
You just need to create a gate way to your free eBook which maybe requires sign up first.

List building is all about the relationship and trust that you can generate with subscribers.

How often and what you mail are entirely up to you, so treat your list the same way that you would a real person. I think you should go and join a few lists to see how different marketer's treat their subscribers.

Rather than just ebooks have you thought about blogging and creating a central knowledge hub to host and distribute your ebooks?

Hope that it does work out for you.
