Hi guys, I will be putting up a product launch for the first time ever and being new into this part of the sales process brought something to my attention. Is it possible that just regular hosting will make your site crash and loose a lot of potential sales in the release date? How many people downloading the same product will it take for your normal hosting server to crash? Basically, will it crash on a product launch if you just have the basic package in your hosting services? If yes, what do you recommend to add to your hosting package? Maybe a dedicated server or so? I am really clueless in this matter and would greatly appreciate any of your comments. Any previous experience would also help out a lot. Peter |

As for doing White hat websites, I have had a really good experience with Host Gator. I've done forums, product websites and blogs with this place and I've never used anywhere else. I've heard some horror stories of high traffic black hat type websites but honestly I think Host Gator is the best way to go if you're running a safe website. |

Here are my recommendation. Talk with your hosting company about expected traffic MORE IMPORTANT Talk with your MERCHANT - because that's more likely to implode when a lot of orders pure in |

it occurred to me that they are going to probably just want to sell me as thats what they do. I don't know if they are going to be legit with their recommendation. And as far as my merchant, I think Clickbank is already too establish to even bother asking. So then what to do, contact the hosting company so that they can upsell some stuff to me (even if I don't really need it, but since I do not know then Im an easy prey), or just keep my regular hosting package and wait for the site blow up and loose potential sales... Well, I'll keep checking and again, I would really appreciate if there is some more advice on the matter out there. Peter

There's absolutely no reason for anyones website to fail during a launch. I know you see it from some big named IMers but that's just lack of planning as it's easy to get hosting that will scale well and you just get charged extra if they need to give you more resources than you usual arrangement. Much of the 'the launch went so well my server failed' stuff is either lies or lack of planning. Most people won't even ever come across this issue, but if you think you will, just contact your host and tell them you're about to do a launch and you need to ensure you get the resources you need during that period. Try to get into personal communication with a representative and make sure you talk to someone who is really interested to help out his customer (you) to be successful. If you don't have this impression, find another person. And ask him what you'd have to do to avoid troubles with them and how you can directly contact him in case something should go wrong. Sorry if this is not a direct answer to your questiin but I think these kind of troubles are much more likely than your site going down because of too many downloads. Good luck!

all this being just nuts in order to just send another email to those who did not buy the product at the launch. Just with you all's words I am more confident that I do not have to worry about this kind of stuff. Furthermore, I will still contact my hosting company just in case, but I am probably not buying anything. I am sure they will be able to help me out with my issue rather than just try to make a sale.
