Default Alternative to PayPal? Help Pls

Hi there,

On my website I am going to sell one physical product. Which will be my best option for processing credit card orders from my website?

I know paypal has a free cart but what other choices do I have and how does the process work? Can I have people buy my product on my site and have the money go straight into my bank account and not through paypal?

Thanks in advance for the help

Take a look at 2checkout.com, I haven't used them but they accept credit cards and also PayPal.

Use 2checkout to sell.
You will have the choice of adding your bank account with the bank wizard, or use payoneer mastercard to withdraw your money from any ATM that uses mastercard from your local bank.

Thanks

Ok, so it seems like I'll have to go through an online credit card processing company like the ones above and cannot go straight through my bank.

Thanks for the help

Cheers

Jan,

With most credit card purchasing systems, there are three key accounts:

1. Shopping Cart - user interface to enter credit card info
2. Gateway - determines if order is to be "accepted" or "declined"
3. Merchant Account - processes funds from credit card institution to your bank account

* NOTE: some places combine 2 and 3, but they're all essential)

So the (simplified) flow:

- I come to your site, click the buy link, am taken to your shopping cart, enter my cc info and click "Submit".

- In a matter of seconds, Gateway determines everything is ok with order, (Shopping cart then displays appropriate "Thank You" page) and payment info is securely sent to Merchant Account.

- Within 24-48 hours, money is transferred from CC company to your bank account. (All happens automatically).

Getting these three accounts to integrate smoothly can sometimes be the trick... but once it's set up you can sit back and just check how you bank account balance is growing.

Hope this helps,

I'm a big fan of Google checkout personally...

The API allows me to get my hands dirty and really "integrate" the system into my sites.

Ever since I've switched from sending customers to a third party CC processor (or at least being obvious about it) to integration of the CC processing directly into my sites i've seen a noticable increase in conversions.

Do you still get good conversions with Google Checkout? I have switched from Paypal to Alertpay but have found conversions to be much lower.

I sure do...

I tested conversions using a few third party CC processing options and in the end the numbers pointed towards Google Checkout.

I've used it ever since and can't think of a good reason to switch.
