Hosts in non us countries

Need some help here.
Lets see if I can explain this.Not sure how much it matters either.
I have always worked with usa based sites and have used companies such as godaddy and host gator for hosting.

I am setting up a few sites in other countries, of course using county spefic domains and they are for companies in those countries.

The first will be for a company in Israel. Whats a good host to use that wont effect the sites performance? Can I use godaddy or hostgator and be fine?
I would prefer not to use a small local company if I dont have to and just a larger one for customer service if need be.
Does using GD or HG work fine for israel based websites?

    No, you should probably use a host in Israel if SEO is relevant to you. It's not only about page-loading times. The location per se of the host is also taken into account in the SERP's. What Matt Cutts says here matches what I experienced with UK-hosting for a .co.uk domain and site, when I moved it from its US hosting company (the difference was really significant). In other threads discussing this subject, many other Warriors certainly report experiencing the same benefits.

    But there are also a few people (very few, I think) who like to say in such discussions that they believe that Matt Cutts is wrong, Google is wrong, US-hosting is fine for this, and that hosting locally makes little difference. I believe that what Google says, and certainly my own experience, and apparently that of others, all suggest they're pretty clearly mistaken about it (and some of them may even be promoting US hosting while they say it!).

    Contrary to what Matt Cutts tells you or whatever others post videos telling you location hast a big impact - do some searches, then check where the sites are being hosted at. You'll be surprised.

    My main concern is user experience. I read a few things that if the servers are not located in the same country that the users are visiting from, then it can drastically effect site performance. If its only a sec. more to load thats fine.
    Of course I have no idea where servers say for GD are located so this why im asking.

    Thanks for the responses. Im going to see if I can find out what others are using.

      Well, in theory it should however, this isn't always the case. The quality of the provider and quality of connections etc overrules the location by a long shot.

      A crappy jam packed overloaded host that's right next door to your house will still load just a crappy.
