Default Seems to me that Twitter Auto Direct Messages Are A Waste Of Time?

Thought I'd investigate Twitter after all the raging.
I'm yet to be convinced this is better than something like Facebook, which seems to offer the same as Twitter with more flexibility.

Most of the Twitter guides I've read say follow as many as possible, they will follow you back, and it's then in the auto message you send them that you get to 'make money' via an affiliate link.

Hmm...

This seems like a load of old hooey to me.
Whne I get notifications of getting direct messages, guess how many of them I read?
Yep, none.

So it's logical to assume that everyone ignores them.

Or am I missing something here?

Yeah I don't like the Auto-DMs I hardly read them... I prefer the @Username Reply approach... I actually read those...

It's like anything. You run a PPC ad, does everyone click?

Everyone has different things that get their attention. I have tried various tactics - I'm one of those that use DM's and people can say how annoying it is - BUT it makes me money, I've made about $100 this week, so why would I stop?

I also used it to build my list. Just sent my link to a squeeze page - got quite a few signups that way!

Just my 2 cents...
