Quick Amazon Affiliate Question

I'm just getting started as an amazon affiliate (no sales yet). I have a quick question.

My birthday is coming up, there are a few things I want off of Amazon. Is it against the Amazon Affiliate program ToS for me to send an affiliate link to someone to buy me the gift for my birthday? The person doing the purchasing doesn't live in my house.

I'd be sending them the link via email, if it matters.

Don't send affiliate links in email. Put them on a web page.

I'm not sure somebody you know buying thru your link to deliver to you is a good idea either.

Basically you are asking for trouble on 2 levels.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was frowned upon by Amazon or not. It it certainly not worth putting my account at risk over a $35 sale with me getting only a small piece of that.

Michael, sending Amazon affiliate links by email violates the TOS of the program, regardless who you send them to.

Having, say, a blog post with a "Stuff I want for my birthday" list with affiliate links is fine. Having that item delivered to you is fine also.

For that matter, you can even buy via your links. You just won't get paid for the sale, nor will it count toward your performance level. Just don't make a habit of it.
