I have bulk email lists that are targetted to my niche...but...

It will generally look like spam if you are receiving complaints. Do you expect your email will be well received by the list, and recognize who sent it and why?

If this list of people did not request information specifically from you, you are basically spamming them.

You need to get a good auto responder, like GetResponse and AWeber which are the two most serious marketers recommend. You'd have to
load in your email lists and send an invitation for them to sign up to
your list. This way, they will have to double opt-in and you can be sure
they really want to hear from you.

Those who do not confirm their desire to sign up will not be added to your
list. At least, in GetResponse only the double opt-ins get added to your list.

This is the safest way to use old email lists that have not previously been
opted into your list.

If you haven't ever contacted them before, give them something for free and require a double opt in for them to get it. This way you can create a new list of people who want the information which will be much more valuable to you than a huge list of people who don't know who you are.
