Are you preferring to social bookmarks? Since Reddit is a social bookmark, perhaps some good alternatives there are StumbleUpon, Digg, Diigo, Delicious, Folkd, Slashdot, etc.

In my niche of China related topics, there is a social bookmarking site known as Haohao Report - it is very similar in that it allows users to submit articles and up/down vote popular articles.

Reddit is a great place to increase your blog's visibility. But the categories there are very limited. It's a great place for those in the technology and games niches. My other alternatives are StumbleUpon and Digg.

I have yet to find a topic that's not on reddit...

The biggest thing to keep in mind in reddit is that their users police that place with an iron fist... you better be contributing with comments, non-link content and links to sites other than your own or you'll be banned within a month.

Only 10% of your post may be linked to one domain.
    Or you will be shadowbanned.
Reddit wants redditors with a website. And not website with a reddit account.

That is what I know. XD
