How much traffic is enough?

I just launched my first site a week ago, and I'm getting more traffic than I thought I would. 629 visits, 504 uniques, and 1109 page views.

My goal is to earn $2000 selling advertising.

Because I am new to this I'm not sure what to compare traffic to. I'm getting excited because I'm getting more traffic than I thought I would in my first few days, but I know I will need the get A LOT more traffic to earn $2000 selling advertising.

What I want to know is this:

Approximately what amount of traffic/pageviews per month do I need to aim for to earn around $2000 a month?

Also, from what amount of traffic can I start approaching companies to sell advertising space.

Hope somebody can help or give some insights into this for me, and for other people who might be wondering the same thing

It really depends on the quality of the traffic...

You can blow millions of $ and might make $0

Re: How much traffic is enough?

For an ad network, a rule of thumb is it's usually something in the range $0.001 to $0.10 per visitor. Which equates to between $1 and $100 per thousand visitors.

Most sites , especially smaller sites are nearer the lower end of the range.

So, realistically, if you were in an ad network, you'd probably haven't a buck or two.

When to start selling advertising?

ASAP. Like now, if you're selling the space yourself.

You can for much higher prices if you sell the ads yourself rather relying on a network. You can also sell for more if you target advertisers that are a very good it for your site content, or, vice-versatile.

I think you would need a lot and a lot of traffic for 2000$ a month. It's not that easy but you may already have quality traffic just keep working on all traffic methods. Are you on buysellads?

I too have traffic issues. I have three completely different websites - different niches, everything, and they all 3 get an average of 1400 visits per month from "Google", yet they have NEVER made the first conversion. No capture signups, No purchases, Nothing. Visitors spend an average of 5 minutes on site, and an average of 3 pages viewed, yet NO conversions.

Any help?

Thank you

I am guessing the 3 sites are the ones in your sig?
If so i have no idea what there doing on them for 5 minutes there squeeze pages not exactly alot to get through.

If your getting 1400 visit a month and not one action taken, then id look at switching up your squeeze pages and run some split testing

Re: How much traffic is enough?

Why not monetize the site with your own products or affiliate ad's and add optin form?

i would rather try that first before i went giving what could be more valuable space to me to place an ad.

you offer ad space so an affiliate goes through the ad network and put's his affiliate offer on your site

someone clicks it he gets say $20

you get about about $1 if that..

try using your own if you don't get clicks then go sell your ad space

It's not going to guarantee that $2,000 may give you high quality converting traffic, but I know you definitely need more traffic. You need to find something that really converts (both the product and the traffic source), so that your money will be worth to spend. You can also do split testing as well, to see which one is converting for you, and which one's not.

Making money with ads depends on getting a lot of traffic. You should try to sell affiliate products, without depending only on ads. You could also promote CPA offers, but your success depends on numerous factors.

You should read many posts here and try to understand what you have to do.

Re: How much traffic is enough?

Just keep going to get more traffic... most important thing is that the traffic is targeted, otherwise you will make no sales.
So ask yourself where the traffic is coming from and if this traffic is related to your offer/page.

I very much appreciate your response. As for the 3 sites, only the middle one is personally owned by me and does get the stated traffic, but actual time on site is...

Visit Length
106 Visits Less than 5 secs
18 Visits From 5 secs to 30 secs
0 Visits From 30 secs to 5 mins
0 Visits From 5 mins to 20 mins
1 Visit From 20 mins to an hour
6 Visits Longer than an hour

And I have NO Idea why Anyone would be on site for 20 min-more than an hour. As you said; it's a capture page.

But I did not list the three actual sites when I posted earlier because I did not want to violate any terms for the forum. But I will try to PM you, and anyone that thinks they could help, the links to the sites, and I greatly would appreciate ANY help I can get. Thank you

Re: How much traffic is enough?

Monetize :) Find out why they're landing on your page in the 1st place. What keywords or keyphrases are they using to find your website. It could be that they're finding you through their desired keyword etc, and when they get to your website, it isn't hooking them on the reason they got there. Do some in-depth research and then find some affiliate offers that pinpoint exactly what they're looking for, that will help your conversion.

Never say enough traffic because the moment you set your goal for traffic, you will end up with your online business. Always believe in unlimited traffic and work on it.

Why don't you check out BuySellAds. Maybe you won't be able to make $2000 with your current traffic but in the future, you might.
