A warrior spammer selling emails?!

I've been receiving certain Internet marketing related spam lately to my PayPal email address.

Funny thing is I've never ever used that email address anywhere. So the only place one can get it from is if I buy from them using PayPal.

The next funny thing is that the ONLY stuff I buy through PayPal has always been from reputable companies, which I really don't see selling emails.

And then last, but not least - I've started receiving these after I bought some WSO's.

So it's either some company from the past that had nothing to do with IM (as I haven't bought any IM-related products up until the WSO's) decided to sell my email now... or they hacked its DB... and started sending me "twitter cash" related offers.

Or a Warrior, yes a Warrior, has either been hacked (and never contacted me about it) or has sold my email address.

Another clue is that they do seem to have my full name, something I haven't used here on the forum, online, or anywhere else except when making PayPal purchases.

So I believe the leak is definitely in someone I've done business with through PayPal, and I'm inclined to believe it's someone I bought a WSO from judging by the theme of the emails and the timing.

Just wanted to share this in case someone else has a similar case and then maybe we could cross-reference and get to the cause.

Thanks for your time!

Dmitry

Have you read the "small print" from most of these purchases? - the vast majority have an auto opt-in to allow them to do what they want with your details - including passing them on to third-parties. You can, of course, uncheck the relevant box - but do you?

    Certainly another clue!

I certainly watch out for that one and when I say reputable companies that's exactly what I mean - ones that don't sell your info.

I didn't say I worry about it, I said I suspect someone here might be doing it which is what bothers me.

I don't know if this is the case for you, but I get spam addressed to "Fellow Warrior" or similar as a result of people having scraped a secondary PayPal address from the "Beer Button" at the old site.

Not the case here - I didn't have a PayPal address back then, and wasn't really frequent to the forum.

It has happened now, in the past couple of months.

If someone else is getting similar spam we could cross reference the products we bought and the spam messages we get and maybe we could come up with the spammer... if there really is one.
