Wow so many question in one post. Maybe you should do some research and then answer these 8 questions and you will have a product.

Wordpress has plenty of pros and cons but mostly it is easy to use and customize and can handle pretty large sites. You can run it as a blog or CMS and with all the plugins not much you can't do.

I guess all I can give is an example.

My site MP3 Sound Stream Software Streaming Audio made Easy was originally a static site built in Front page. I then used xsitepro and then changed to wordpress. Me personally wordpress running as a CMS with blog posts has given it the most visibility.

    Hi,

I can answer a few of your questions

I would say that one of the main advantages for the new affiliate marketer is that you don't have to worry about learning HTML or any web programming languages in order to update your website - adding new pages and posts in Wordpress is easy. If you can make a forum post or write an email, then you will be able to use Wordpress. There is also the advantage that there are so many great themes and plugins for Wordpress. You can easily change the look and feel of your site at the click of a button.

In terms of SEO, there are a lot of good plugins available that can help make your site more search engine friendly e.g. All in One SEO Pack, Google XML Sitemap plugin, SEO Friendly images plugin and meta robots plugin, to name just a few. It is also relatively straightforward to optimize a post or a page by putting your keywords for that page or post in the post subject/title and a few times throughout the post.

I don't know much about XSitePro so can't comment much on how this compares to WP.

    Cheers,
    Suzanne

    * I have wasted months learning HTML and css and then I realized that I can't do 5% with my knowledge of what I can do with WordPress. Not to mention the time it takes to build a site from scratch as opposed to a few clicks it takes when you use WordPress.

    * I understand Google loves WordPress sites.

It has nothing to do with wordpress, you can get the same results with a custom built php site, html website, or any other kind of website... It has a great deal to do with the SEO, RSS, CONTENT, and SITEMAP.

The only advantage I can see for you NOT to use wordpress, is that you are building these sites to sell to businesses.

Selling an html site to a business is more likely to mean they will contact you to make any changes ...for which you can charge them. Because wordpress is so easy to get to grips with they will soon master it themselves....so possible lost revenue..it just depends on your marketing plan.

To me anyway, one pf the best things about the WP platform are the plug-ins you can add to your site. All in 1 SEO, stats, faster-opt-in, affiliate adds and a handful of others have made my blog index better, manage my list and quickly add my affiliate banners ads to the site without having to learn html.

As soon as I learn more about XSP2, I think my landing page conversions will improve dramatically.

I personally do not see an advantage in building a website with an html builder like Dreamweaver or Xsitepro instead of Wordpress. I have used them all and still occasionally use them if the need arises. But if an internet marketer really wanted to create a static site and didn't want to use Wordpress, I would recommend XsitePro for speed and ease of use.

I can't recommend it for commercial work because I think the code is a little bloated and it is harder to edit an XsitePro site in an html editor instead of XsitePro. I have done it and don't like it.

But, now I build all my sites in Wordpress even 1 or two page sites.

With the enormous amount of plugins available and with the great amount of themes around I don't see a need to build html sites especially if you don't know html. Mind you I believe if you are going to professionally build sites you should know both html and css.

And, if you build Wordpress sites professionally you should be a little familiar with php so you can tweak a site for a client when need be. For clients I tend to build their themes from scratch or I at least convert a theme that they like with their color scheme and graphics.

But for the internet marketer, I don't see an advantage building a site from scratch other than a big time advantage. You can build and add to or update sites with Wordpress a lot quicker.

I think Wordpress today is the way to go for commercial clients too. For my clients I am building static type sites as well as blogs with Wordpress so that they can add their own content later on. In fact I teach them how to add their own content.

And, even though I teach them how to update their sites they still ask me to do it because they don't have the time to do it themselves. So, I don't think repeat business is an issue.

Nowadays, I leave the html editor closed and just build Wordpress sites.

  • XsitePro is CUMBERSOME to say the least. It's fine for small sites that you want to replicate around a single theme.

XsitePro compile the ENTIRE Site before it posts. You can not take advantage of all the killer plugins that are already available for Wordpress.

XsitePro is not a blogging platform thus you won't be able to take advantage of blog directories.

The list is extensive as to why Wordpress is a better platform.

XsitePro had it's day in the sun. It's an okay product for what it is. Try building a site of any real size with it and you will quickly encounter it's shortcomings.

Wordpress Scales and archives and is really simple to maintain.

Not really here to knock XsitePro... but Wordpress is simply so much more powerful it doesn't make sense to use it... unless of course you have some reason to want to crank out dozens and dozens of small simple sites around a single topic.

But you can also use affiliate theme and fantastico on a reseller account with wordpress to do the same thing.

    1) Wp is being used to build static sites by affiliate marketers online what are the pros and cons of using wp to build such sites for a new affiliate marketer
    Pros:
    * Some claim it is easier to just slap up and put in some plugins
    * Faster way to get a blog installed
    * Can be used for many different things

    Cons:
    * Coding not secured, open source
    * Plugins / themes not secured
    * Bulky script that is not cross browser friendly
    * Huge learning curve
    * Very Limited Use - I do not care how many plugins you have
    * For a professional site it will not look good to customers that you use a "free" system

    2) If money is not an issue for a new affiliate marketer is he/she better off buying a website builder program like xsitepro, ms expression if yes why if no why instead of going the free way with wp.
No, if you have money then you should invest into your site and get a custom solution built for you that will meet all your needs without the need of this plugin and that plugin. The problem with some plugins is the fact they are coded by different people, some of which do not even understand coding and they are not secured.

    3) I am thinking of building simple 5-10 page sites for small business owners why would wordpress be a good program to use to build small business websites that want a presence online or why wouldn't it be one?
Wordpress would not in my opinion unless it is going to be used what it was meant to be used for "A Blog" other than that you should have a custom solution setup that will not require any learning curve, no plugins, and etc...

    4) Can wp be used to build small or large ecommerce sites what would be the pros and cons of this
I would not agree with using it as a eCom site because it is simply not built for that. Yes you can get plugin's but see reasons above why I disagree with this.

    5) What seo advantages are there for affiliate marketers that specialize building sites with wordpress
None, you can build SEO in any website, wordpress itself does not help with this. Yes again it has plugins but you can do the same exact thing with any php site, html site, asp site, and etc...

    6) Is it not easier to learn how to build websites with a website builder programs like ms expression, xsitepro etccc over wp if so why!
I use none of those programs as I custom code everything from scratch and I do not use any kind of html editor. I hand code all my sites, so I really could not answer this for you.

Besides learning is really based on the person, some pickup things faster than others...

    7) If using wp to build static sites can be high maintenance if using wp vs using xsitepro?
Any site can be created with any program to be low maintenance, this really has nothing to do with wordpress or xsitepro. Many I have talked to has told me wordpress html abilities suck (and I personally agree) and it is very hard to get used to using.

    8) If I were to become a expert with wordpress what opportunities may there exist for me to make money from home with this?
    * write manuals and guides
    * create themes and design packs
    * create secured plugins
    * create custom coding options
    * the list could go on ....

Thanks to everyones feedback not sure if I understood everything but I will go over what I think I understood and please clarify if I am wrong in certain areas at bottom of this page...

      Koolphoto

...confused on your post and response below, are you saying you cannot recommend wp for commercial purposes due to difficulty in editing in html editor and recommend xsitepro instead vs wp

or is it the other way around are u saying do not recommend xsitepro for commercial purposes but rather wp for ease of editing
      **********************
I can't recommend it for commercial work because I think the code is a little bloated and it is harder to edit an XsitePro site in an html editor instead of XsitePro. I have done it and don't like it.
      **********************

Sorry guys my grandson is still in bed and i just got up but this is what i walked away with the responses correct me if I am wrong:

      1) Wp is also fine to build static sites with, possibly a little easier to modify and edit if I do not know html and correct me if I am wrong but with wp the ease of use comes I think with the available themes one can select to create static sites with or diythemes or rapidnichewebsites which allow you to change the look quickly of your site without know html.

      2) I believe I also got that it is not meant to build robust commercial sites with it due to Bulky script that is not cross browser friendly, and the plugins developed even if reliable and if the dude that developed falls ill or dies for what ever reason when wordpress updates itself your sites using those plugins such as semilogic pro will all of a sudden start experiencing display problems, etccc this is scary for me unless u have a solution to this potential problem it is a little scary for me even if u bring in other programmers to correct the problem at hand but who will keep udating those plugins if the developer is now deaddddddd... ( food for thought guys here is my little contribution to the thread )

      3) not sure about ease of use yet, it appears there is a learning curve to learn how to use it well

      4) I believe you also have to pick up something like diythemes, rapidnichewebsites to be able to manipulate the look and feel of wp pages for static sites but still may need some knowledge of php, css when you want a certain look and u cannot get it to look the way u want with the theme or pgm like rapidniche u are using to manipulate the look and feel

      5) SEO ADVANTAGES ( read up on quickly fading ) - For those of you that feel that GOOGLE loves blog sites and it is a geat way for getting indexed quickly and gain higher positions, my research has provided the following:

Google is hip to marketers trying to manipuate its search engine with blogs and pings to gain quick indexing and rankings in pages, yes it is working with quick indexing but quickly fading away as a way to gain rankings in search engines

Google is quick to pick out unnatural manipulations to gain rankings and will penalize for it using blogs and pings, what I am not sure of can a natural system of building backlinks from blogs or blog directories are doable this was not discussed and is left open for discussion, any feedback on this one area would be good to filter through what is true and what is not...

SO with this the only thing google likes is:
      1. relevance, relevant content, great linking strategies will ensure a solid site that will google will always love as opposed to spammy blogging and pinging techniques which google hates.
      6) you can build a site for a friend, business and allow them to add content to the site,l ut not sure yet what drawbacks will i have in this area with rapidnichewebsites ( anyone used rapidniche hear yet and knows the drawbacks would be nice to hear them as i am trying to figure them out now as I use the program )

I am currently using rapidnichewebsites to build a new static clown site I will be building for my brother so that he can have access to adding content down the road, I am not sure about the strengths or weaknesses or this program yet except it was designed to allow affiliate marketers to build quick niche sites to make money from.

I also own xsitepro which i have not used it to build anything, but I am not sure if xsitepro will be better for me because of all of the features it has to build small affiliate sites then wp

honestly I am still confused about whether to start using xsitepro for all of my future affilate sites. I believe I will have to just do some sites with rwp and then some with xsitepro to be able to make a sound decision to find out for myself the pros and cons of each and then take it from there.

However this thread added to knowledge about things I was not aware of and now I am so I am one step closer to getting a complete answer.

I believe the biggest thing I will leave here is for those that think that blog sites are better, you better watch with google that they do not come behind and bite your a** real hard and all of that work put into gaining rankings with blogs comes crashing down, this is scary for me so I will keep up front this weakness with wp, if used incorrectly can really hurt u and me in the future, let me know what you think about this as well.
