Length of Indexing on Article Sites

Still learning about article submission...
When you submit, and it gets accepted, do you consider that it will be a permanent link to your site? Or do you find the search engines don't index older pages after a while?

Just yesterday, I noticed that my total number of articles on
Ezine Articles is only 147 and I know I've submitted far more.

My assumption is that they archive older articles which means
you lose the benefits. I know for certain SearchWarp does.
The archived articles are marked in my articles list. Seems
pointless for them to offer me the option to personally delete
them, since no one can see those archived articles anyway.

They "claim" that articles with little activity are archived, but
that doesn't seem to be the case in every instance. It's probably
    just done at random.

No idea how EA deals with this issue.

You think they stay in there for at least a year?

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Some do, for sure. I have some that are 3 years old
but some that went up 1 year ago are archived.

It all depends on the site operators how they decide
to archive and when, but article popularity is certainly
      one of their criteria.

You'll always have the link to your site as long a the article site maintains the page your content is on and doesn't archive it, but Google does value new content more than older content unless its high quality and draws a lot of traffic.
