some open source options i'd like ur thoughts on

Can't really say much about the other two.. but the second one (Club Site Starter Kit) will require you to run it on a Windows server that supports ASP.NET. I'm not sure if it was actually released by Microsoft or just released "through" Microsoft, but it comes free with source code (if I recall correctly, C# and VB.NET versions) as one of their starter kits for building your own ASP.NET powered club website with Visual Studio (the full version or the free "express editions" will work). Unless someone has added a lot of code to it since the last time I checked it out a little over a year ago, it's exactly what the name implies, a "starter kit" only. I wouldn't use it out of the box to run a website, but if you're going to be hosting on a Windows server anyway it gives you a decent framework to build your site on.

I don't know what type site you're planning to build but WordPress is free and will do just about anything you want it to do.

If you want to use it for affiliate marketing host it on your own server - not their's.

They don't allow AM if it's hosted on their server. You can use it for AM if you host it on your own host's server.

I am not sure what you want to build but I would be very craeful when it comes to building a membership type site with open source code and especially trying to put 2 differently coded scripts together to work as one.

There are many things to take into account when wanting to run a membership type site and wanting to use open source code.

* must take into account security of the script an how well protected it is. Just one small hole in the security could cost you a great deal of trouble.

* trying to combine coding from 2 totally different scripts that was coded by different people is not always as cut and dry as many thing. You must remember that not all coders code scripts the same way and because of this intergration of 2 different scripts sometimes cost more than just building a new script.

* take into account support of the script, even if they have the best support in the world it still is not going to matter much if you have problems later down the road because the fact is most developers are not going to support a scritp they did not code. When you combine 2 scripts then you are making it very hard for the devloper to provide support.

There are other factors to take into account, the above are just a few...

i'm so lost, none of the wp membership site or cms's provide time release options, some of these appear to tho, which leaves me in the lurch i'm in, trying to make different options communicate.
