Free-Traffic Case Studies for Non-IM/MMO Niches?

I'm looking for similar case studies but with more of a focus on traffic generation. Ideally, the case studies will...
... be for non-IM/MMO niches (preferably something tight like the survival-knife niche that nichepursuits.com used).
... involve free traffic-generation methods.
... be very "left-brained" -- tracking codes, daily uniques, an eye for confounding variables, no public reveals until the case study completes, etc.
... have more of a tactical focus than a strategic one. What I mean is that the methods have more of a systematic, do-this-X-times-a-day-on-this-site-and-then-that-on-that-site kind of flavor than a nebulous, "build a relationship," "establish your brand and online presence" kind of flavor.
