You are NOT your Market !!

I heard this mantra from a blog awhile back. And it just resonated with me so much !

Many of us here are not in the IM niche( you know Imers trying to teach and sell other Imers on how to teach and sell other Imers on how to teach and sell other IMers on how to teach and sell other Imers , ad infinitum )

Okay, okay that is a little cheek and tongue. But some truth there.

But many of us here at Warrior are not in the IM niche. We are in Niches like Weight loss, how to speak french, how to grow ripe red tomatoes, how to travel the world on $300, work from home niche, teach your 3 old to tie his shoes etc..etc.. so you get the picture.

And I think many of us not in the IM Niche over critique our Sites thinking that ' oh no maybe I highlighted a KY one too many times in a article or maybe I should not put my KY in the title with my target KY phrase. Or maybe I put my capture inbox too many times on my home page.' And it can go on and on.

Do not sweat it because much of the people looking for solutions to their problems in these Niches do not know what SEO means and could care less if you highlighted a KY too many times in a Post or not.

We start to come down hard on ourselves by are own predisposed position on what constitutes a good site from an Imers point of view .
Which many times our potential customers could care less about and do not think about.

So as I said in my title some of us need to take a step back and repeat to ourselves ' I am not my market ' !

Just something to think about.

Agreed. IMers tend to get too wrapped up in the details. I know I certainly used to .

We also need to view it from our customer's perspective. This is where doing what you know really comes into play. You have to be able to understand their motivations, why they're on your site, etc.

      Good points, both of you.

The flip side of that coin is where, because you understand why something is being done, it makes sense to you. If you don't know, sometimes the things IMers do look silly, ignorant or out of place. Sometimes things we ignore raise red flags.

This is often the case when someone posts things like "What's wrong? I followed Joe Gooroo's method and it's not working."
