27 Conversions - $100 spent - Flea Market

I'll jump right in.

So, I woke with a few ideas yesterday. One was about offline marketing. I'm very successful with my offline marketing but this idea just caught my attention. So I figured I'd just give this to you all.

I had a dream that I was at a flea market and every table had some type of offer on it.

I woke up and thought... Hmmm that's great traffic. So, I went on Facebook and asked all of my friends and family to donate any clothes to me that they could for a project to help people.

I ended up with about 6 bags of clothing; adults and kids (mainly kids). After putting the clothes together as outfits and some individual I had about 900 sales I could get.

I could have sold each piece for $1 each and made 900 dollars but I had a bigger plan.

I printed up some black and white flyers and I went to the flea market for 3 weekends straight.

The flyers cost me - $54.00 ($0.06 each) to get 900 made at a print shop or you can just do it at home. No fancy grade paper either, just regular grade paper.

The tables at the flea market cost me - $27.00 ($9.00 each) I paid for 3 tables at the flea market.

I also bought something called Tshirt Carry Out bags (not affiliated). This cost me $14.00

This way, I had something to put their items into. I bought a box of 1,000 bags and I put my 900 flyers in these bags before I even went to the flea Market. I don't want them to think I'm putting marketing material in their bags. So that's why I did it at home.

So, every time someone bought something, I handed them a bag with their items in it and as mentioned above my flyers were already placed in the bag. The website that went on the actual flyer was a capture page. This was the absolute only traffic that my website got I made sure of it. I made my website go live 20 minutes before I went to the Flea Market.

Keep in mind that your conversions rate will be low (but they will be on your email list for remarketing so... The product I promoted was google sniper. It has a good sales page and his business model is actually ethical (although takes a little more work considering the algorithm updates). The commission on gsniper is average, $25.00

So, all in all I put out 900 flyers (remember this market of people are Usually low on money. Not always though because my aunt loves the flea market especially with her friends (social) and she's a neurosurgeon)

Out of the 900 people that had my flyers in their hands.

82 of them actually opted in.

Out of the 82 that opted in

27 of them actually bought.

So I made 27 x $25.00

My expenses were $54 + $27 + $14 = $95

That was for the... Flyers ($54), FleaMarket Tables ($27) and Bags ($14)

I made with ClickBank $675.00 - $95 = $580.00

Of course now that this worked, I could have easily, seriously scaled this up by buying more flyer and telling different people at the flea market that I'd pay them a commission for everyone that converts and I'll track it by having the visitor put in an Id. This Id would of course be linked to the email and if the person buys using that same email address then they'll get paid.

I hope you all enjoyed this method.

Warm Regards,

Have an awesome Electric Day

Daniel

    Danny,

Now I am confused. (Easy to do.) You said, "So, I went on Facebook and asked all of my friends and family to donate any clothes to me that they could for a project to help people."

You made the money at the flea market. How did this help people? What am I missing?

    Thanks

      Hi,

      How did this help people?

I sold every piece of clothing for 1cent each. The clothes that I was selling I could have easily put in a consignment shop. Or the people who had these clothes just lying around could have done nothing with them.

So I was selling them cheap clothes. I sold a 3 piece suit for 3 cent.

Yes, very easy to do. I'm not saying you have to go to facebook and ask for donations. I was just saying that's what I did because I have no spare clothes laying around.

Any product or service that someone buys serves a purpose for them or else they wouldn't buy that product or service. A desire to buy something quickly turns to a need when desire reaches a peek (so in reality there is no selling, it's just presenting). At 1 cent the buyers didn't have to have a huge desire to buy anything.

Did this bring clarity to your question?

He was probably just messin' around. Kinda shifty, I agree with you, but you could do the same by going to a second hand store (where they sell clothes by pound) and pickup a bunch of stuff there. Would cost a little, but it's allright.

What's shifty(euphemism)? The fact that I brought value to people. Do we as marketers promote everything that we have personally used? Or do we sell on what we feel would be a perceived value to our prospects?

You're right though, you can get clothes or items from many places. I believe as a marketer and a successful business man that online marketing and offline marketing rather you're a small business or a fortune 500 company the rules are the same.

Present value through a product or service and let the prospect decide. Doesn't matter the scale.

This is definitely interesting. I commend you on utilizing a giveaway to draw online traffic.

And your conversion rate is beyond phenomenal.

You are not including how much you spent for gas, or how many hours you spent collecting/sorting/organizing the clothing.

Have you done this again? I suspect this was a fluke and that it does not hold scalability. But, it will be interesting to see if it can be repeated.
