Hey guys.. Have a question.

Let's say (for this example only) that I'm trying to monitize the keyword phrase "get rid of scar".

So I go and buy getridofscar.com and install WP.
I focus entirely on that phrase and create a few post on my blog.

Now, my question is:

A phrase like "get rid of scar" is har to write around, so what should I do?

Should I write articles and posts with titles such as:

"Get rid of scars - learn to bla bla"
"Get rid of that ugly scar - bla bla"

Would these titles destroy my chances for dominate googlse #1 page on that phrase?

Or, is it best to stay away from these kinds of keywords?

Buying the domain name and putting text on the site that mentioned would certainly help you do well with google. Do you have another site that is also important in addition to this one you are considering starting?

Have a look at that second phrase below and you'll see how to get around this with some creativity...

"How to get rid of scars?"
"Scars are not easy to Get rid of. Scars are bla bla bla."

    Hi,

I am assuming that you have done your keyword research and the keyword gets a fair amount of traffic.

If you are targeting a keyword, it is necessary to look at variants. To help you understand it a bit,

For example, if you are targeting "get rid of acne", you can target "how to get rid of acne", "get rid of acne using natural remedies", "get rid of acne using over-the-counter medicine" etc.

Make sure that each post is unique and targets a sub-niche or variant of the main root word. This is what we call a "silo" which is necessary for building relevance to your site.

To quote another example, if I am targeting "training a dog", I will target "how to train a dog", "training a dog to watch the house", "potty training a dog", "training a puppy dog", etc.

If "Get rid of that ugly scar" gets some decent traffic based on keyword research, you can try.

I hope I helped to answer your question.

Thanks for the quick replys guys...

I think I wasn't clear enough (the answers was good anyway though )
What I'm asking is simply if "How to get rid of scars" would be a good title for an article based on the keyword "get rid of scar".

Another example, "get rid of that ugly scar".
When I'm doing a phrase search on "get rid of scar" there are litte or no competition, but that keyword gets a lot of traffic (just theoretical, havn't done reasearch on that particular keyword).

Now, my problem is that it is almost impossible to write a post on a blog with "get rid of scar" in the title.

What do you do in these situations?

I realize that the domain name itself (getridofscar.com) will bring a lot of traffic if the artcicles are "stuffed" with LSI words.

But will an article titles "how to get rid of scars" gain any traffic from a search "get rid of scar"?

      Hope you understand.. I'm babbling....

    Hjalte81,

You will pick up new keyword searches along the way, relevant to your website and main keywords. My best advice to you is to write naturally and make the content valuable. Even if you do not pick up searches directly for "get rid of scar", you will see searches pick up for "getting rid of your scars" and so forth...

People want the following when they hit your site:

    - A relevant site, targeted to what they are looking for. They are not looking for content that doesn't read correctly.

    - Good content that they can learn something from and get a deeper reading from as opposed to your competition (other websites on getting rid of scars).

    - Relevant resources that they can go to if they decide it's for them (your affiliate products/ebooks etc).

Give them a platform to make their own informed decisions and be that middle ground between learning and buying that they are looking for. PLR content, poorly written articles and keyword-heavy meaningless content will not get you anywhere. Sure you might get an SE ranking quicker, but spending the time to provide an array of quality content based around a focused set of keywords will do much, much more for you

      I couldn't agree more...
I'm still new in the game, but I think I'm about to grasp the basic idea.

The way I see it, is that a good site should land somewhere in the middle between SEO and content for the readers.

If it's only SEO, the content would be very poor and on the other hand, if its only generated for humans it wouldn't be found (at least not the kind of site sites I'm creating).

Anyway, what I'm getting from this is to select a main keyword (get rid of scar), buy the domain name (getridofscar.com) and srite content related to the main keyword. Such as "getting rid of scars the easy way" and "7 tips to get rid of scars" or whatever...

      Is this the right approach?
And I would still rank for the main keyword phrase (get rid of scar)?

(I've actually created a site off an odd keyword phrase just like that a few days ago and thinking of creatning another very soon, it will be interesting to see how things are working out)

You've got it - The domain will help you come up for your main keyphrase - just be sure to specify in your meta tags, title tags etc. For example, your title pages for your site might be:

Get Rid Of Scars - 7 Steps To Smoother Skin

By nestling your main keyphrase into your site in such a way, you are essentially:

        1. Meeting your SEO criteria by not only having the domain name, but also the titles of your page focus on your main keyphrase... or in your case this is just the name of the website - so having "Get Rid Of Scars" is nothing more than you naming your website (in your visitors eyes).

        2. It will also boost your SE ranking by telling the spiders exactly what your site is about. Good content will back up this, and with a few backlinks you will be climbing those ranks at a good rate I'd expect.

        3. You are opening up the opportunity to include two phrases in a title, without looking spammy.

Since my main keyphrase is "get rid of scar" and not "get rid of scars" or "get rid of that ugly scar" will google still be able to figure out that the keyword I'm targeting is "get rid of scar"?

Or is it better to find another keyphrase with high searches and low competition?

It's been my experience that Google is smart and will pick up on all relative content/keywords. As the other poster said; just provide good, strong content, keep it natural and not phony or forced (marketers often forget about the reader and only focus on marketing). Just give Google what it wants (search their webmasters page) and you'll do just fine.

    Why not try:

"Get rid of scar tissue" as a means of targeting your main keyphrase. By adding other words in to the sentence, you are creating a new keyphrase rather than targeting your main choice

Be sure to use your main keyphrase for anchor text when creating backlinks and with the domain containing them also, I am very sure your rank will shoot up

I have PM'ed you a list of keywords based around your main phrase which might give you some ideas as to how you can expand your site to accomodate more keywords in to your site! I hope this helps

Now, after a few days (maybe a week) I'm on the first page of google and gets around 20-30 hits every day from organic traffic only.

But the wierd thing is, I have a VERY little CTR on my site. Any ideas on how to optimize content for CTR?

Mu links are something like this "Click Here to Learn More About <product-name>!" and
To visit <product-name>'s Official website, Click Here!

I guess you are promoting affiliate products. Just be as unbiased as possible with your content. Don't hype it and build your credibility by pointing out the flaws too. Basically it's the art of preselling. One good resource is Ken Evoy's Make Your Content Presell.
