Where/how did you find your mentor?

Dear members!

I just read a thread here (asking for starter's advice) where every second post suggested the original poster to get a mentor.

Good idea!

I was wondering how to find one..

So, how did you find your mentor/coach? What made you trust him and what made him help you? (Or her?)

(I am wanting to start with affiliate marketing.. but I wouldn't even know what my page(s) should look like.)

Many thanks and all the best!

lol, exactly the reason why I'm creating a new site to find accountability partners.
Some people get lucky and find a mentor and "the rest of us" are struggling alone trying to figure out what to do next with noone to bounce ideas off, etc.

It's at least 2 months away from launching (I still have more programming to pay for) but if you don't find a mentor between now and then I should have something for you and anyone else like you in a couple of months

I really don't know how some people find their mentors - but something to do in the meantime is probably:

1.) Join a mastermind group (go to the mastermind section in this forum) and speak to others locally that are working on similar goals as you.

2.) Find people you look up to and start being an 'active' commentor, providing helpful advice, and linking back to them in your blog posts, etc. Just getting on their 'radar' as someone that helps them out, and later on down the track you may be able to contact them and they will listen to you because you are on their radar as someone who has helped them.

3.) Join a business coaching program - usually expensive ($2k+) but you get a coach that you hold yourself accountable to, usually once a week or fortnight. As well as group-calls with others in the program (there are heaps of programs like this online - one that comes to mind immediately is Loral Langemeier's Live out Loud, but there are plenty - probably even on this forum as well on different niches and business practices)

4.) Let people know you are looking for a mentor and see who they know. Stating here on this forum post what you are looking for - what industry you are in, what you are after, you never know who might read it and know someone or be someone that will work with you.

5.) Find a Meetup group that is in your area, maybe by networking with others in the same niche/interest, you'll find a mentor

That's all I can think of for now, hopefully others have more ideas - especially those who have their own mentor

Find someone who has the success you want to replicate.

Approach them and ask how much it would be for them to mentor you.

Finding a mentor is not difficult, but finding a true one depends on your luck.
I suggest you to spend time reading threads on your selected topics in WF, here you will find true information.
If you have a question, you can ask here and you will get good advices and you'll no longer need a mentor.

I spent lots of time reading and learning about internet marketing in general and signed up to a lot of email lists, joined Facebook groups, read blogs and followed people on Twitter etc. I read more about the marketers who were sending me great emails and who wrote engaging content, joined their webinars and generally just researched them and what they had to offer. That's how I found my current mentor as well.
