Organizing Wordpress Pages...

I'm revamping my client's website and I realized that the old website have all the pages at the root. ie. domainname.com/wppages1/, domainname.com/wppages2/,etc.

In order to keep all their URLs, I have to keep them all at root level. However, when I go to "Pages" of WP admin console, it looks like a mess as all the pages are dumped there. All the main and sub-pages are lumped together.

Not very nice looking for my client if they want to edit a page and they have to search for it in the midst of 30-40 pages!

I tried a few solutions and my questions:
1) I put some of the pages into the child of the parent page. If I do that, I will lose the URL of the original and these URLs are actually found in Google and they bring in traffic for my client. Will redirect 301 help?

2) Is there a plugin that allows me to organize the pages such that they are put into parent-child relations without messing with the URL? The best I found was Simple Page Ordering but I wonder if there are others.
