Should I invest my time in tutorial site?

Hello,

So after ruling out several other ideas for a potential website, I'm now thinking about programming tutorial site.

I'm confident I can produce quality content, but I have some doubts about monetizing the site, I'm thinking about premium content later, but adsense mainly at the start.

As we all know tech savvy people aren't the best audience for ads, but my keywords have pretty high cpc (4-20+ $) and competition isn't very high nor do they offer quality content.

Now, knowing that, would you say that it would be possible to make a couple hundred dollars a month from adsense with keywords of that cpc and 5000-80000 avg monthly searches?

It's possible but, if you think the search engines are just magically going to give you the numbers you're mistaken. Search engines do not understand quality, but spend more time looking at quantity, this might mean that you need to create thousands of pages, and with them millions of words.

If you have great marketing abilities, and super high quality content people want to share, that can work as well, but is more the social media side of things which doesn't directly effect the search engines very much.

Building great content, by itself, is not nearly enough. Don't let people fool you into believing it is, it is just another important link in the chain.

Also the number searches won't matter as much as the amount of clicks, and conversions you can aquire.

You can also capture emails on the site if you can provide a reason (giveaway, guide, ebook, etc.) for your readers to opt in.

So you can put adsense, other affiliate ads and an email form. Out of those three you should be ok, even better if you can make your own product to sell them.
