I doubt you'll find a mentor to help you for free. But just look around and you'll find that you're surrounded by folks who are willing to help you with individual issues.

Start by simply reading as much as you can by people with a proven track history. That's how I've learned what little I know.

In my experience (and as the other members have stated), you will be hard-pressed to find someone who is just willing to constantly teach you and show you what to do. You should take the initiative first and start learning on your own. If you are unsure of where to start, I would suggest reading around this forum and picking up tips on where to look for good information. Of course it helps to already have a goal in mind or at least an area of business that you want to work in.

There are several ways to enter into Internet Marketing. You will have different choices to select one and go for it. It totally depends on you. The more knowledge you will gather, it will be more helpful.

Here's a good starting point....

Start with the 5 star posts on this forum or the other sub forums on here. You can have them all in one place by clicking the ratings link at the top. Plenty of free detailed methods to test for yourself. You should be able to find some methods that resonate well with you!

Take your time to find something that you have interest in.

read posts everyday in this forum until you find something that you think you can give a try.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in this forum, people are willing to help.

No one is going to help you if you don't have a more clear picture of what it is you want.

Dreaming of being an internet marketer stays a dream without some sort of clear and concise plan. Coaches can help you achieve your goals, but you need goals.

It doesn't sound like you have any goals.

Start creating a goal sheet.

Once you have a framework or an outline on what you want and how you plan on getting it, then you can reach out to a mentor.

You're not there just yet.

Don't start out seeking a mentor.

Start by doing some research to figure out what you want to do - then find a mentor with that specific focus.

Gotta pay to play. And even if you do find someone willing to help you for FREE... you MUST act on the advice, or else your wealthy mentor will grow wary of your laziness, and will quit helping you.

I would invest in finding a mentor or coaching program. Seeing as you are a complete new comer to internet marketing i HIGHLY RECOMMEND a guy named Chris Farrell.

He will show you how to make a profitable web business from scratch and earn money on a regular basis. He has been voted the number 1 coaching program for the past 3 years.

If you think you may want to hear what he has to say, my link will give you some very great information on how this business works, and what you need to do to make money, all for free.

Just to give you a brief description, there are only 3 steps to marketing online:

1. Find a profitable market where people are already spending money in
2. Find people who are interested in this market and collect their email addresses
3. provide these people with free and helpful value, while occasionally promoting products to them.

That is it

People make this business to be more complicated then it has to be.

This is a very high quality program that is perfect for newer Internet marketers that have yet to make $100 or more per month on the web. Steer clear from programs or coaching telling you that you will get rich overnight as most likely you will end up in a pyramidal scheme.

I would suggest reading this forum and you will learn very very quick. You may avoid doing some newbie mistakes. A lot of free information out there too.

Best way is to jump into it. Don't clog your head with useless articles on the web. Find a traffic source you want to test with - either search pop, emailing etc. Find the method that interests you most and test with that method first. Learn as much as you can about that 1 traffic source and then proceed with the others. There's a ton of offers you can run with for internet marketing to learn the ropes. Signup to a CPA network to get the most out of your budget with traditional marketing methods.

You need to decide and make up your mind on what you want. There are different money making methods on the internet and there are experts that major in each of these methods.

Read through the internet, this forum, other money making forum as well as youtube. When you find the method that appeals to you, then you can adopt that method or probably getting a guru in that field.

But you need to know that getting a guru to mentor will of course cost you some cash

Clarity is a HUGE part of IM success. I hope this post brings some clarity. It's so simple when you know it -- and darn difficult when you don't! I owe my mentors a world of thanks for bringing this clarity.

IM is actually pretty simple: you can sell only one of two things:

1. Products
2. Services

That's it!

And selling products or services online happens in the same basic way for everyone, no matter what they're selling:

Traffic > Opt-in page > Autoresponder series (or e-zine) > Sales page

That's it! It's just that simple. (We IMers tend to overcomplicate things.)

But no matter what your niche is, or whether you're selling a product or a service, do you know what your business model is?

A business model is the framework or skeleton of your business. Essentially there are three types of online business models:

1. Membership-based model

A membership-based business model allows you to build a community of people (your members) who are as passionate about your subject as you are. Your membership fees can be monthly or annual, but either way, you're building recurring, passive income.

There are a lot of resources and information out there to help you build a membership-based business if you're interested in doing this.

2. Product-based model

Selling products allows you to maximize your time and effort by selling items over and over again. This can be hard goods or it can be information products. Information marketing is it's own business model under the product-based model. Information marketing allows you to take your brain to the bank by creating a product ONCE based on what you know and selling it over and over again.

Affiliate marketing falls under both models. You can choose to market either products or services as an affiliate.

3. Service-based model

Selling services can be great for 1) generating quick cash (as in the case of article writing or video producing) and 2) establishing your expertise and getting testimonials.

However, in the long run, your goal should be to offer services at a PREMIUM. The biggest advantage of IM is LEVERAGE. You're able to leverage your time, money and expertise exponentially online. We all have just 24 hours each day. Time to get ruthless about what you expect for those hours you spend in IM each day. Expect more of yourself and more from your business friends, clients, partners, etc.

What results are you getting for those hours you spend online each day? Ultimately, your services should be at the bottom of your funnel and cost the most since they involve your time and personal attention. (We all have a limited amount of time each day.)

The fun (and confusion) comes in with all of the endless mix-and-match possibilities of the above models. If you're just starting or still struggling to make money, keep it simple:

Pick just ONE!

1. Pick ONE niche. (Something you're interested in and know something about.)

2. Pick ONE target market for your product or service. (Who will buy what you're offering? The more specific you are, the more you narrow it down, the more successful you'll be.)

3. Pick ONE business model.

Now that you're clear about what business you're in, FOCUS! (And stop buying any info not related to your niche and target market, period!)

O -- One
C -- Course
U -- Until
S -- Successful

And remember: build a list, Build a List, BUILD A LIST!

In IM, it's easy to put the cart before the horse. Take a deep breath, step back and consider what type of business you REALLY want. Don't worry about getting traffic or buying that expensive traffic product until you know 1) what your business model is, 2) what niche you're in and 3) WHO your target market is!

Successful business people will tell you that MARKETING is more than half the effort that's needed for success anyway. So pick a niche, target market and business model. Then spend most of your time and effort marketing it.

If you DON'T have a solid plan or system, THAT'S when it's hard. A good system will shave YEARS (and save you big $$$) off of your learning curve

That's why I recommend investing in at least one good, comprehensive IM course (or mentor who will give you such a system) instead of jumping from one $37 e-book to the next. A lot of people here complain about not being able to make any money. But neither are they willing to invest in their business. (Buying a random bunch of $37 e-books doesn't count.)

The best thing I ever did was invest in a comprehensive IM course aimed at REAL business owners, not just other IM wannabes. Yes it was $1500. (It's no longer available.) But it was truly some of the best A-Z IM info I ever bought. Everything else I've learned (from the $37 e-books) since has simply been plugged into this system.

Get a solid plan or system and then work the plan!

First of all realise it is a mentality change you need to go through.

I use to chase money, but its wrong, you need to help people first and let the money to you. There are no exact way to make money but if I had to start again, I would build a list, there are ways even if you did not want to build a site you can still make money with a list. Its the most important aspect to any business. That is for sure.

Basically I agree with literally all the comments and suggestions made.

The first thing to do is research - and what better place to start than the various discussion threads on this forum.

A question and/or responses may just give you an idea on what you'd like to do - what type of niche gets you going and what type of strategy to get things going.

The thing is to as people have said - decide what you want, research what you want to do, try one thing at a time and be persistent until you master it; and last but not least - forget the shiny objects and all the wonderful WSO - you can easily fill up your computer with courses, systems, software and the like and end up over time find you've paid a small fortune!

Yes as one person said - you've entered a gold mine - just remember the gold miners of the past - many flocked to the gold mines, however few mined the actual nuggets!!!

In many respects when I think of the gold mines of a bygone era - the people who made their fortunes were selling the shovels to the miners who sought to make their fortune!! Maybe you want to seek the fortune; maybe you want to the person who provides the 'shovel'. However it's a decision that has to be made in many respects in regards to IM.

I was looking for a mentor for affiliate marketing too, then I joined AffPlayBook. That's when I started seeing results. My advice, join a paid forum and jump right in to affiliate marketing. I lost $500 before I saw a single sale. I'm currently $700 down but am slowly having profitable days and should cover that in no time. It's all about action in this industry. Emotionally Detach yourself from money and treat it like a game/money=points.

What do you already know? Have you done anything online earlier?

Apart from looking for a mentor, another alternative is by joining Membership sites. Good Membership sites can be very helpful and useful in gaining knowledge related to Internet Marketing.

Get War Room membership ($37) on this forum read and learn as much as you can learn in there. Once you have a rough idea of what strategies and methods you would like to use in your online business, get a mentor to show you the ropes in that particular business.

You don't need a mentor but it will help if you had one, so you can avoid making mistakes early on... also don't always try to look for "free" information. Some of the best stuff you can get on online marketing you will have to pay for.

One thing as IM, there should be some kind of Investment, without investment one cannot expect great amount of profit, lot of aspirant of IM world won't like to Invest, they do lot of research but someway heart-burn not getting much traffic / leads, there should be quality of investment to get the things going - like PPC and quality contents for Website / Blog etc..

Warrior Forum is like having your own mentor. Just start implementing what you learn here.

The thing you need to understand about IM is that this is the kind of "every man for himself" business, but not necessarily in the bad way. You do not have a multinational breathing down your neck and imposing policies and a line of thinking. Everybody does whatever sees fit and if he/she succeeds, the secret of success will not be revealed. After all, we are all competing on the same markets. If you are really passionate, learn everything, try everything. Learn how to decide these things for yourself.

You need to be specific, Internet Marketing is a very broad term. If you are new I suggest with either service based model or affiliate marketing.

Whatever you choose on what business model you like, you should expect to fail in yourfirst attempt. But don't give up.

My advice to you is sign up for any website that interest you. Find out what they are doing, how they send you an email, how they message you, how they attract you to buy their product or services.You don't need a mentor, you can actually figure it out by yourself. Plus you can ask here.

Pros of having a mentor is that they can guide you in the right direction. But the cons is, when you fail you'll probably point finger to your mentor that he/she is a scammer.

Well this is what I did ... I surfed around and found some damn good internet marketers who I could resonate with and that I was willing to model and I took it from there. You could sign up to their program if they are willing to take you by the hand and show you step by step what you need to be doing and scale

I understand how you feel. When I got started back in 2006 I was over whelmed with information and got off course. You have to focus on one strategy and master it. You have to learn how to do it correctly and most about 90-95% of the people are doing it wrong and that is why there are so many SPAM laws. I finally found a system that help me and taught me what I needed to know. The big problem was who to trust? What works? What do you need to do first? What is working now? All these questions can be hard to get the answers to. Isn't everyone going to tell you that what they have is the best thing? I spent years and lots of money trying to get it right. And I agree it is going to be hard to find someone who knows what they are doing and making real money at this to help your for free but there are so low cost systems that will guide you with trainings and mentor-ship to reach your goals let me know if I can help

Hi Imoore, Most people has given some great advice which is to get a mentor and follow a proven plan from someone that has been into internet marketing for some time. There are so many courses out there for you to learn from, as long as you understand it and don't get to much information over load I'm sure be alright. Wish the best of luck! :-)
