What business and personal benefits do you see from online communities?

From my personal view, online communities is now here and there. It does exist in everywhere in our daily life. Therefore, it is another commercial field for merchants to fight for.

business who gets involved online communities could definitely expand its consumer group, get the feedback for the products easier than traditional selling. from the personal side, people could rich the choices and make the right decision from the review function. Moreover, people could use online community to know more friends. However, the honest of the seller is more important than the real seller in life because consumers do not even real touch the products. Besides, online community safe issue is also need to be concerned.

I don't fully understand what you have written.
This forum is the best "community" I have found. There is a great mix of marketers and non marketers, mixed levels of experience and also people with different attitudes. Some will help others whenever they can and others are only out for themselves.

I personally believe that if you can help others as often as you can, it will eventually come back to you because karma does exist.
However, I don't help others and expect anything in return.
It's also a great place full of people you can bounce ideas off.

I know I could make a list of people who have made great contributions to this forum but you know who you are.

So I just say a big thank you to everyone who has contributed in any way and let's hope this forum is around for another 20+ years to help those in need and to allow people to help others as well.

      laurencewins,

The statement I put in bold is reminiscent of a book that I just finished reading lately: a book called Youtility by Jay Baer. Have you ever read it? Essentially, in the book, Jay proposes how valuable simply helping others can be in life and in business. Businesses that strive to be genuinely helpful, as he documents throughout the book in his own and others real life experiences, generally end up doing very well.

      Have you ever read it?

Well, you might say that online communities are much better than real life ones because how on earth would it be possible to find so many like-minded people in one place in real life? Maybe on an event a couple of times a year but that's it
On forums you have an event like this Every Day!
