I wanted to do Article Marketing but....

For the longest time I have wanted to use this method to start my internet business. I felt like if I could master this then it would be a good way for me to generate some capital. My plan was to use article marketing to make some seed cash and then use that money to scale up my efforts by either outsourcing or using some good paid techniques. After a while though I saw that most of the products on clickbank I just did not feel comfortable promoting. I just cannot help it. Maybe I am soft and should do whatever to make money like some people in the business world do. Maybe I should treat customers like a one night stand, I don't know. But try as I might I just could not promote any of the products I seen advertised. I did not feel good about it. So I decided to let go of article marketing per se and just freelance full time. But I have already written so many articles and done so much keyword research, but I have not submitted them to any article directories. I will probably package these and sell them for plr to make some extra cash. But that is my story. I am just focusing on writing quality content that will help the people who come to me for it. I want to have a long time customer and friend. I just could not bring myself to sell most of the stuff I saw on clickbank. This is not a digg against anyone that uses it. It is just that for some reason I did not feel right about it. Am I wrong for this?

Hey, there's nothing wrong with that. You can only do what you feel comfortable with. I don't think anyone can fault you for that. After all, now you aren't competition for others selling clickbank crap, so no one should give your trouble for your opinions.

I agree with you that most products on clickbank are horrible, but there are some good ones. Good luck with the PLR stuff, you should be able to make some cash.

You have to do what feels right. I'm sure there are people who would be thrilled to purchase your well researched articles for their site. With the right attitude you will be successful whatever route you choose.

You gotta be able to live with yourself...

I agree with you on this! I love writing so I thought article marketing would be great. I do like doing it and I finally found a couple clickbank products that I don't mind promoting. But I also agree that most of them either are not good or are simply not worth the money. I think an example would be an e-book in diets. I've actually purchased them to see what promoting them would be like and it is the exact same information you would see in a cheap book worth a few dollars.

I've gone the way of freelancing too, and it is working out nicely so far.

Of course, it can be difficult to tell whether a product is any good or not unless you purchase it. Then again, that wouldn't really be practical for you as an affiliate because then you'd have to buy everything that you're promoting in order to know it well enough to give honest reviews and/or to feel good promoting it.

It might just be the salesletter that's putting you off. I've read some truly horrendous salesletters...but that doesn't necessarily mean that the product is as bad as its salesletter.

If you feel that Clickbank is mostly full of garbage, then it's respectable to just walk away and find another way to make money, which it seems you have

I am not sure why you are questioning yourself. You definitely should not sell any product you are not comfortable with.

When I started I made an website to sell a nutritional supplement. I hooked up with a company that had the supplement as one of their products. Then one day I came across some information and realized that the free trials were a scam! Happily I found another company that did not have a free trial offer and sold a high quality version of the nutritional product. The profits are not as great but I can sleep at night.

Do your homework first on any product you are thinking of selling. Sell high quality and sell what you believe in. Sell products that give value to the consumer.

I have been thinking about it for a long time. And I have decided to not go the article marketing route with affiliate products. As for the plr I have to go over them and edit them properly before I consider selling them. I only want to give good content and be judged based off of that.

I actually have experience with this as well. When I was sixteen and super ambitious I tried to get in on something from some guy named don lepre or something like that.He called it the greatest vitamin in the world. Anyway I promoted it using cheap five dollar ads in small city publications. Made some sales but did not get paid. Then I found out they had a process for this that was so bogus I just could not go through with it and did not even pursue the nice chunk of money I was never paid.

I don't like a lot of what I see out there. IMO there are too many "get rich quick" and "snake oil salesman" types of sites. They have a seediness about them and that I don't think's good for anybody. I have stayed completely away from this and I'm happy about that. Someone once said to me; "But it works!" I said to them; "Well, selling drugs works too but does that mean it's good for our society?"

Go with your gut instincts and you'll do just fine. I've steered clear of all of it and we've made plenty of money.

There are thousands of Clickbank products. Don't tell me you found none you are comfortable with?

You don't have to use CB products to make money with article marketing. Write content for your own AdSense site, then write articles to drive traffic to that site. Write articles about hard copy books that can be purchased on Amazon, and use your affiliate link to make money from those. Write articles about tangible products (camping gear, exercise machines, home decor, clothing, etc). There's tons of products out there to make money from, with or without article marketing. The world is much bigger than clickbank

    Hello,

I think you should be commended on your integrity. I also could not market/promote anything I thought was dubious or not worth it.

If you can't find anything on clickbank you could always create your own product and sell it at a price you feel is fitting.

I personally have found 2 products on clickbank to promote that I wholeheartedly feel are worthy of the price and are good products.

    All the best to you.

It doesn't look like you need to give up on article marketing, but ClickBank. You can use article marketing to sell a very broad variety of products. It's not exclusively for digital downloads, or internet marketing stuff.
