Just A Quick Tip I Have Learnt From The Past 3 Months [List Building]

I just wanted to give back some value to this amazing community...

So here goes...

Many people think that the best way to make a crap ton of money is having a massive list of over 100,000 people...

What if I told you that I have made more money that someone who has a list of 30k with a list of 300?

That's right...

Many people think that this is just a number's game..

If you think of it in that way you are seriously loosing out on a lot of money.

Here is how I did it.

Point 1: DO NOT bombard your list with offers constantly....

Point 2: Always give VALUE whenever you send an email...

What do think is the most important thing in an email that gets that email opened?

If you just thought "Subject Line" in your head then you are wrong..

The most important part of your email is the SENDERS NAME.

If you are constantly sending your list value after value... then they are going to open your emails because they know what to expect from you.

My most opened email was this...

Matt Williams - oh my

That had more than a 40% open rate!!!

I guess the point of this post is to tell you to stop spamming your list with offers and hoping that your emails get opened and start providing the most amount of value you possibly can...

How do you gain value?

How many WSO's have you bought and read through?

How many books have you read?

How many products have you bought?

All of this knowledge is now value stored inside you head.

Just release it when you write your emails.

to your success

Matt Williams

    Hi Matt,

Are you saying that you put your name in the subject line?

Im saying I put my name as the senders name

Then because people know I provide value most of the time it doesn't matter what my subject line is.

      Thanks

    Thanks Matt,

Surely these are important points to consider. Every marketer needs to assess what they are doing and how it's working. Observe, test variables, track results, and modify for optimum results.

Indeed, I recently read about a marketer that has 60 or so subscribers, gets nearly 100% open rates, and sells about an average of $2,000 per year for each customer he has. Obviously, his focus is on personalization and offers that are highly targetted to the wants of his list.

He has built a six-figure a year business based on a total customer base of 60 people. Heck, it could be 10 clients, or 5 clients if you find the right customers and offer the right products/services that they want.

    The very best to you,

    Steve

Don't get fooled. The size of your mailing list is the factor that determines how much money you make.

Sure you have to give value to your subscribers.

Whether you give value to 5 subscribers or 50,000 the only difference is the money you make.

Its true the size of the list does matter. The bigger it is the more money you make as long as your susbcribers are quality ones that double opt in

Ye that is totally right - I agree with it.

But sometimes the size does matter, if you havent the right email service (for sending emails) ...

Then a smaller list is better as a big one. So spammy emails wont help you very much, try to filter them out

There are many factors that matter in email marketing. List size, the quality of the list, having your list divided into segments and of course the content you send. Treat your list right and give them value and you will make money.

    Matt-

Thanks for sharing. I am working on building a list of customers, not numbers, and you just validated what I am trying to do.

I feel like I can give more attention to a smaller list, understand their needs, and better know how to actually help them.

Hopefully they will be more willing to open an email from me because of that.

    Still working, testing and learning...

Basic information but it helps. I agree that it's very important to only send VALUABLE information to your list, instead of bombarding them with sales copy or useless info.

Building a relationship and giving value comes first, selling comes second.

    Thank you for the tips

If they love what you give them, they will open your email every time you send it.

    Keep it up!

I hate the spammy methods of people who send from admin, support, inbox, commission earned, etc. and then the subject line is even spammier, payment approved, etc...

Those methods just get on my nerves and I know they have got to get a lot of unsubscribes and complaints.

With the value method I like doing freebie sunday, once a week offer them something good for free.

Matt, it is a numbers game. The trick is, you have to focus on the RIGHT numbers, and most people (especially newbies) don't.

Anyone else remember when just about every site had a little graphic shoing how many visitors a page had? Back then, people compared the number of 'hits' on their meter the way people compare list size now.

Great post! We shouldn't associate the quality of a list with the number of subscribers. You need to make sure the people opting in to your email list are interested in what you have to offer. You can do this by offering free incentives like eBooks related to your niche. You need to offer value to your list too, don't constantly bombard them with product offers!

yeah man, in this day and age on the internet, you have to give a tremendous amount of value to people on your list. If you spam them with promo after promo, then they will unsubscribe.

This is classic Kern style marketing, in that you provide a solution to a problem, for free to people on your list. They will get results, and then they will trust you and consequently buy from you.

Sure a 30k list of quality subscribers could make more money than a list of 300k low quality subscribers... id rather just have a list of 300k high quality subsribers though. I think that would be best.

    Hi Matt,
I think that is good advice. I hate being emailed constantly with offers. I give my list value everytime I email them, which is 2-3 times a week. My affiliate links are in my emails, so that it's available for them to click on, but, in the meantime, I give value, value, value!

You're so right Matt. I don't know about you guys, but I get a LOT of emails. If I don't check it after a few days, it could be PAGES. So I don't even look at subject lines...

    ...at least not FIRST.

First I'll scan the "from" names to see if it's someone I know. If it's not, I'll quickly check the subject line to make sure it's not customer service related.

    Then it's SKIP, SKIP, SKIP...

Fact is, most emails, the subject line gets my attention - if it's lucky. Why? It's easy. Because I'm simply not checking their the VAST majority of the time.

I think most of us are adopting these habits as email floods our inbox...
