Is making money with Craiglist still possible?

This may be obvious for some, but I haven't been doing anything on Craiglist for a while, so I'm not sure. As far as I understand, now Craiglist is full of scammers, and it's quite hard to earn your potential customers trust. I plan to offer creating a basic simple website to Craiglist advertisers, for a small fee. I'm working on building a long-term business, meanwhile trying to make some fast cash here and there. So, would this be a lucrative idea? What other ideas of making fast cash you guys have, if you don't mind sharing? Thanks.

When I first wanted to start coaching a few people I went to craigslist first. Mostly used the resumes section to find people interested in sales and talked to them on Skype a bit. Got some of my best earners there because they tend to be pretty desperate for money and willing to work quite hard.

The 5 or so people I found on Craigslist to work with me have been more valuable than 100+ from my list. Some people definitely make a decent amount promoting CPA offers on there too, but I don't see it as worth the risk since I don't know of any CPA networks that allow CL traffic.

I also used to run a membership website for learning to do freelance writing online and was able to get 3-4 signups per day from Craigslist, with a $7 first month and $17 per month afterward fee.

There's still lots of money to be made on Craigslist, you just have to be careful with how you do it and stand out. I've had lots of people respond to my ads and say something like "I'm only contacting you because you used the word bullshit in your ad". Honestly, they say exactly that. So it helps to make it sound like you're a real person.

Looks like there's still a lot of potential. I know Craiglist is prohibited as a traffic source on most, if not every CPA networks out there. But I just came up with a new idea about how to make money on Craiglist thanks to your post. You're right, there are options, if you put your mind to work. Thanks.

Why the hell would you waste your time on Craigslist, break their TOS, break the TOS of various CPA companies, and make you and the affiliate marketing industry look like a bunch of ******* assholes? Seriously, cut the crap.

If you plan on using Classidfied sites, then use them according to THEIR terms of service. This means no affiliate marketing. Even using it to sell services is limited to the Small Business Section. I don't know why noobs insist on using classsifieds when 1) they don't work, and 2) they are in direct violation of TOS regs.

OP, no, you cannot earn money with Craigslist. Build a real business and advertise like a real entrepreneur.

TheRealDudeman, I didn't mention CPA in my original question. I planned to offer creating websites for those who may find it useful in their business. As I know, it's not called affiliate marketing. Of course, I steel may need to check Craiglist's TOS to make sure I don't break them. As for the opportunities to make money on Craiglist, as you can see few posts above, people do make money there. Also, making money on Craiglist - or planning to - doesn't necessarily make you a noob. It may be just a source of extra income. I wouldn't mind having few more paying subscribers every day like Kevin. And even if the person is a noob, he has to start somewhere, so why not Craiglist? Amazon, Clickbank, Ebay, CPA - Craiglist is just one option from many for starters. Of course, as long as rules are respected.

Yes, do check the TOS. Affiliate marketing includes CPA advertising (unless you're the vendor who's offering CPA opps) because you're still affiliated with whatever company or brand you're promoting. Semantics, but important to clarify. In my book, using classifieds for traffic generation or advertising is very noob-like. But that's my opinion. I've also seen way too many people abuse sites like CL, so I'm a little critical whenever people mention classified ad sites in marketing discussions. My response was at the other guy btw, that's why at the end I addressed you as "OP".

Yes. You're the one who mentioned CPA and that people (foolishly) use CL for traffic generation. You explained a bit, but I had to come in and clarify things before others get the wrong ideas.

It can work, but it depends how you do it.
Try sending to your squeeze page rather than direct affiliate links.
And use Fiverr to do the mass posting rather than risk your own account.

Craigslist is pretty hard to make money from now, and it's hard to promote offers and advertise things without it being marked down as spam. It can still be valuable for getting clients for freelancing, but it isn't very good as far as CPA and affiliate marketing goes.

I did get a few customers from there in the last few months, but I think it's a miracle. One woman told me her ad had 225 responses from all over the world! That's a lot of crap to cut through.

You will find scams not only in Craigslist but also in other free classified sites. You cannot stop them. But still there are a lot of businesses are giving their advertisement there. Still businesses can get leads from these kind of sites.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I think I'll give the idea with building websites a try for few days and see how it goes. It doesn't take me much time to build those sites, plus I use subdomains and I have a business plan with Hostgator, so I don't have any extra expenses, I have nothing to lose.

I use CL to sell items, and it does supply traffic to my web sites, but I do not spam. Most people on CL that spam are kicked out and soon. Ask yourself if your service is of value to the average person. Most of the time, the answer is no. CL cannot abide a spammer. Basically, it clogs up our service.

Probably I didn't make myself clear when I was posting my question, it seems to me that a lot of people on the thread got me wrong. I'm NOT planning to do CPA, and I don't intend to spam people with some fishy offers. I find ads on CL that I think may use having a website, I make a simple website, and I send the seller an email offering him a ready-made site, for a small fee. If he says no, that's fine, no hard feelings. I change the site a little bit, and send the offer to another seller who has a similar product/service. That's the idea. I don't plan to do a massive email distribution or anything like that.

Well, it looks like there is some potential for making money on Craigslist given the fact that there are dozens if not hundreds of people selling info on how to do it. I was wondering myself if it really works. Has anyone actually bought and tried these things. how about some feedback on that.

Maybe it works so well, no one wants to tell how well they have done. I don't know, maybe it's worth a try. HMMMMM!

Craigslist is still a great place to make money, however due to the changes in their TOS, you are better off using that site to sell physical goods.

You may want to check out either Fiverr.com or Yooker.com because now they allow you to do add ons to gigs. Make a list of the different features of what you have to offer, and figure out how someone can add up the pieces to make up what you want to change for doing a website.

Also, since you are focusing on a basic website for Craigslist advertisers, Fiverr.com or Yooker.com would work well since many people are looking for assistance with marketing on Craigslist.

And, of course, you could always put up some online classifed ads in other non-Craigslist sites.

Its still possible to make money on CL for sure, but you have to know how to post and not get flagged/ghosted. I know people making 100 bucks per day on CL but most of the stuff is borderline blackhat stuff, like getting people to fill a CPA offer as if it was a job application and other things I wont get into.
