Firstly apologies as I'm sure you've seen this question come up again and again....

I'm in the process of trying to market my site and increase the traffic etc. and having difficulties. I've already come up stuck and fell into the woes of paying Revisitors.com for fake hits but they kindly returned my money.

Any advice on how to go????.....

The site is www,alltheupdates,com

any comments on the site would be much appreciated.....

Not a bad design. As it's such a general site, I would get as many articles and affiliate products on there as possible, but don't have lots of unrelated stuff on the subpages like on the home page. Have a subpage for each of your best keywords and market to people searching for exactly that.

Otherwise you could have trouble building traffic when Google doesn't know exactly what type of site it is. At the moment you have Catering with Property and Laptops all thrown together.

You could start by having a News page, a Software page, Property, Catering and Computers etc, otherwise the traffic you do obtain will not be able to navigate effectively and they'll leave rather than scroll to find something they want.

To find traffic, there are hundreds of threads about this. Spend a day on this forum and copy and paste links in a word doc or spreadsheet with a short line of description for each link.

Also search for blogs on the subject and subscribe to their RSS feeds, then you've got a constant stream of fabulous info every day.

One great way to get lots of backlinks and traffic is to comment on other people's Wordpress blogs but don't use your own name, use your main keyword as your name, then when you add your url, it will be an optimized link.

But make sure the posts are of some value, or they will just be deleted.

Also and tweet (Twitter) each of your own blog posts or new articles with the title to give people a reason to click on it. And Digg (.com) some posts, and get your friends to too - without overdoing it - or you'll get kicked off!

Find relevant forums (for each of your sub-niches) and join and build up a rapport with other users. Then when they know and trust you add your url to your sig.

But before all that; did you do keyword research? You need to find what people are searching for, or you'll not get the traffic no matter how hard you work.

    Good luck

    Thanks a bunch buddy!

There's tonnes of info here for me to absorb and I'll do exactly what you said and try and get some more infor through to twitter and digg.

I'll have a look at redesigning the front end to see if i could put a cover page over the rolling feed of updates. Originally we thought this would be good as google would continually pick up various types of updates relating to the site boosting its ranking, but maybe we need to be a bit more targetted.

Finding it difficult as you said because of the generality of the site, but thanks again for your comments.

Any more help is always welcomed.

    Cheers.
