I am nothing but a worthless POS

No I'm not looking for pitty.

I'm simply stating a fact.

All I do is read and read and read.

I come out here to WF looking for something. But what? I don't learn anything new anymore.

I know that there is only one way to make it happen and that's to choose a path and do something.

I waste hours, days, weeks, years dreaming and thinking and learning and trying to insure I don't waste time. I've literally wanted this for 15+++ years. That's not an exaggeration.

Imagine what I could have accomplished if I had actually started doing something back then. What if I had just developed the habit of doing something back then. I could have probably put 20 business in place by now.

Instead, I work for the man.

How many of you are in the same boat?

What are we hear looking for? It's like a drug.

I seem to waste a lot of time here, Facebook etc... I bought a few select WSO's that are mostly screen capture videos and I listen to those and take notes. That I don't consider wasting time. I have 3 sites up. One I am really working on hard. The other 2 I work on here and there. You have to get a plan and work it. Over the weekend I wrote a 10 page shook that I will give away to the list I am going to start building. I am also looking into creating a product.

It seems to me the more I do on my sites the more things start coming together and the less I am doing things that are in productive. You need to get started.you can only read and learn so much and then you got to go for it.if it does not work out then try to find out why and fix it.
    I wish you luck

    Dude.

    Take it easy.

I just soft launched a membership site product that is better than 95% of the products on the list right now. More value than you would know what to do with.

    Zero sales.

    I'm not bitching.

    It's just back to work.

    Keep going.

Well, I suggest doing what works, to start off. Build up a steady stream of income from things like affiliate marketing, micro jobs, referrals, and other stuff that is tried and true.
Doing the tried and true will do two things for you; it will give you a good residual/direct income that can help you invest in other, bigger ventures, and second it can reward you with the reality of likely success. Little goals completed, leading to bigger goals.

Later, you can be more speculative, as far as the sometimes wild proposals that may be suggested by those around you.

    Stop reading and start DOING.

Reading and learning information is great but it MUST be coupled with action otherwise it's simply in one ear and out the other.

Begin following a proven method that YOU believe you can make work, and take all of your effort to make that method work for you.

    • I'm a coder. I literally build anything.

I want to build a legit biz. Which means I need to have a legit product.

I have generated money through Adsense, but they were little crappy sites that I felt were honestly disrespectful to my readers because they were scraped content. That money still comes in. I'm ok with Adsense for monetization but I'd want to build a LEGIT PRODUCT for my visitors.

I've done a few Clickbank products but I have not found a product that I feel strong about as far as it being a LEGIT PRODUCT.

I've sold a few things through CJ, but nothing huge.

I just need to figure out what "my special purpose" is, to quote The Jerk.

I just can't nail down what that is.

If you're a coder you have amazing opportunities, but you need to be tuned in to these opportunites. eg build plugins and addons for existing platforms like wordpress, payment system api's etc.

Here's an idea off the top of my head. Build a secure hosted payment page solution for the popular BraintreePayments system. It doesn't seem to exist - I've looked for it, and I bet tons of non-techy users would love it.

Here's a another idea. Build a wordpress plugin that creates a basic affiliate system for membership sites. Every user is given an affiliate link on registration and admin pays out via paypal. Works with every membership plugin - There are 1,000's of potential buyers for that, including me.

Brendon, I saw a great post of yours in the Mind Warrior section yesterday or the day before I think it was. Definitely motivational/inspirational. It linked out to a scene from Fight Club, good stuff.

Your fault. Now hush and listen.
The money is in the list. Stick to one thing till you earn the money.
    Use consistency.
Now it is almost winter, I produce very few products May through September, I will be humping it October through April,

    WHY?

Because people hate cold, they stay indoors and surf.

Get your butt in gear and make a difference, if you have to buy some coaching then do it but do your research first.

If you need specifics email me and I will tell you what I think after I talk to you.

Just do it and stick with it. Don't have a swivel chair, stay in one spot for a while.

I have done the same things over and over. I have a different problem though and that is I try to do a bazillion things at once. Never really making anything take off. I have been trying for a long time too. Worst part is I succeeded last year with a site that in November and December brought me over $14K in 2 months. Worst part about that was I got comfortable, same sort of sites you were building, not long term business and I knew it. Business dropped to mere pennies and I was naked in the middle of the street. No plan to make money, no business, and was living like I was going to make 7K a month for eternity.

You know what you need to do, I read it in your post. I learned I just needed to be me. I needed to quit trying to find the thing that was going to do it quick. Obviously quick doesn't work. If it did both you and I would be really rich like you said.

So I started building sites out with content. I am getting ready to do a site and work on media buying and branding. Narrowed my focus. Came up with a solid strategy for a few sites that I enjoy working on. I am done trying to hit a little bit in every niche that I think could be profitable and build a few solid business sites and go from there.

Action is key, and momentum works to. You'd be amazed after a few pages get indexed in Google, and you get those first few search traffic hits (I just got this done in 5 days with nothing but internal links), now I feel like I am on top of the world. More rewarding than anything I have done and it was a few piddly hits.

What was exciting about it, is I didn't do any of those "get traffic quick" or rank quick methods. I have been out on forums engaging with real people. I have put content on my site. No special SEO tools or anything , just a mind map that after I write each piece of content what I think I can link keywords in it to, and then write content off that mindmap. So far so good.

So put it this way, the past is gone and the future is yet to come. All you have is right now. So throw away all the shiny objects from the past, focus on what you can do in this exact moment to move forward. Set a timer for 5 minutes and start. Before you know it you will be well on your way, and when that 5 minutes is up you won't want to stop.

You need nothing to make money online, besides a story to tell, a website and your keyboard to write it out.

I just read your post and here's what I saw:

    "I need an accountability partner."

Further downthread, you mention that you're a coder.

If you're any good - there is a metric shit ton of money looking for you.

My suggestion is to find/create a mastermind group. You can do it on Skype. You can do it on Facebook. You can do it via email or a weekly phone call on a conference line.

Find someone who's better at marketing than you are but can't code. Find folks who create products and help them build new products for a piece of the action. Find people who you can lean on and who you can help support (an important part of building your own confidence is helping others!)

You haven't wasted 15 years, you've gotten very clear about what you don't want more of.

Every day is a clean slate.

    Best,

    Brian

I'm jealous. Coders have so much potential. You get to create the product, while most of us would have to hire someone to do it. If and when you learn to code for mobile devices you could be sitting on a goldmine!

Heck, Angry Birds was simply a new take on a really overdone concept, and an old one at that. Now those guys are gazillionaires.

I can code android although I'm not a game programmer yet.

That would be a hill for me to climb but I'm not above doing it if it gets me where I want to go.

    Confession:

I could have written your OP. There are differences, though, because I have done things online and made money, however sporadically.

People would not believe what I've gone through in my pursuits. Everyone suffers in their own way and ultimately by their own devices.

I helped myself by reading successful people, usually via newsletters, and most importantly - being honest with myself about why I learned nearly everything under the sun about online marketing with so little action taken.

What I discovered, after admitting certain things, is personal and private. Next, I worked with myself with the awareness of shortcomings. Some things are easier to fix than others.

I continue to make headway; progress. I hit total rock bottom, nearly left the earthly plane (no shit), and am rebuilding. One person in this forum knows all the details. A well-known Warrior.

You will progress and overcome inertia when you're ready. No amount of well-meaning posts or anything will make it happen.

Sometimes you have to stand up and start moving when it's the last thing you want to do.

      Thanks for your feedback Ken.

I know I am at the point that it's time to get down to business or get off the pot. I've accomplished allot in my "profession", however my heart is not in it.

I've always wanted to build an empire and working for the man simply feels demeaning to me anymore. Literally, every day is straight up torture for me. I have wanted to work on my own biz for my entire life. Now I'm piled up with so much responsibility that I have to have everything very ramped up before I can even think about saying good-bye to the day job.

It feels like a Catch-22 sometimes.

Look what this guy did in 5 days: Space Box: How I turned Stripe into Paypal in 5 Days - The Industry

Stripe integrators are making $$$ so why not do something similar for other platforms. Eg There's a brand new payment system in Aus called Pin Payments, but it's too techy for me to figure out how to use it. They need someone to simplify it for the non-coders.
