Should I Build a List From my Facebook Page?

I've made a similar post when I first started working on my page, but got few responses, so this is a new thread

I've got a Facebook page with 400 likes in the Kindle niche. My original plan was to build a Facebook fan page in this niche, get a few hundred or a few thousand likes, and then convert to likes into email list subscribers.
Now that I've got 400 likes that are a bit active and I've spent all of my $50 Facebook voucher, I think I'm ready to start getting them on my list!

Should I start now? Or, is it too early? Otherwise I would get a new account so I can use a $100 voucher and then keep promoting until I get around 1400 likes.

I've tried using affiliate links on the Facebook page, but with no success. I'm getting decent clicks on the links, but no conversions. Will email always be better for promoting affiliate offers?

And, my final question:
How should I get them to opt-in to my email list?
Anyone who has an idea of a strategy for this, please post it here!
My idea is that I'll offer a free book or guide to my fans, and require them to enter their email to recieve the download. Will this work? Also, should I boost this post?

Thank you!

I doubt you'll get any opt-ins without something free. I'd definitely try out a free report to collect emails and see how it goes. You're just losing some time then at the most.

If you aren't getting opt-ins then you could always go back to the other plan of using another $100 voucher.

Sending them directly to squeeze page has not worked well for me.

I have found the best results when I send them to a valuable article on my website and I put an optin form at the end of the article. It has worked well for me so far, though I suspect it differs from niche to niche.

    Always build your list.

It should be among your chief operatives.

    Period.

    End of story.

Don't listen to anyone who would suggest otherwise.

    How to build your list?

Well that's a topic of conjecture.

One thing that cannot be contested however is the notion that you should be actively acquiring leads at all times.

    At all costs.

    Do it.

    NAO!
