Example agreement for someone who will write articles for my blog. And he is only sixteen yrs old...

Hey everyone.

I have found a fairly intelligent person who has offered to do articles on my blog.
My payment to him is a link to his youtube channel in what he writes.

I told him also he can rettain his copyright but that I'd be able to moderate and use all stuff as I want too.

He is only sixteen, but I'd like to make an agreement done via email that states the rights of work and use on the site and possible email marketing and so fourth.

I won't sell his info but would use it in an email newsletter etc. Plus the site is monetized through affiliate links.

Any ideas? Templates? Thanks.

There may be a problem here.

In most jurisdictions, 16yo's are not allowed to enter into legal agreements.

Yes, that's precisely why I made it a point to specify that here.

So then, what can be done. An informal agreement? Would that ever hold up if anything came to pass?

I am basically just elated to have some content for a niche subject (teen bodybuilding vs bodybuilding nutrition etc)

If i had an informal agreement and never did an affiliate link from his articles directly I imagine it'd be okay.

Well, to me this sounds like an agreement to help each other out.

He writes guest posts and you link to his Youtube. You have no contract and if either of you wants to stop you can do that right?

You're helping him too and not putting pressure on him, it sounds like a fair deal.

Not sure if there are specific laws on it, interested if anyone knows of cases like these

      Indeed.
He sends people to me to see his articles, they in turn get to see my site and youtube channel as well as a link back to his channel.

Informal does sound best. I'll let him know I won't delete content and will archive it if he wants to stop writing and that he can use the original articles elsewhere as he sees fit.

Sounds pretty loosey-goosey to me. The only sticking point may be the idea that, while he retains his copyright, you get a license to use the articles as you please. Without some kind of agreement, that may come back to haunt you. You might ask him to have his parents or guardian to email you stating consent to the license.

You also want to monitor the kid's YT channel to make sure it stays something you don't mind linking to...

If you go with the contract, you should write the contract with his parents or legal guardians.

A contract may not be necessary, but I don't know enough details to venture a guess, and I am not a lawyer, so my opinion would practically be worthless to you.
