What should I do first?

I have been asking about articles marketing for two weeks now and I honestly thank every one for all your helpful information; I understand from what I have been reading and from many responses here that I need a blog or something like that in-order to do the article thing.
Here is where I am;-
I have a website, privately hosted, I have made at-least five Aweber Email auto-responses with my affiliate links, and that's done but --
while I have been thinking now it was time for me to find ways to build my email list with an hope of getting some conversions, I feel like I have something that needs to be done, like sales funnel which I tried last night and couldn't quite figure.
My question is, with my business the way it is, is there a way, other than Articles that is free, and good enough to help me see the list results there is and give me hope?
I am trying social media and forum today. But, again, with me giving a customer just my free ebook gift after signing up on my squeeze page (if they ever do) and hoping they would also buy the affiliate products, is it going to work. The Free gift thing or that's how it works as long as I get it right and get the customers.
If yes, then I am ready to give quality contents on social media and forums (in my niche) for two weeks (as advised to focus on two ways at a time before moving to another one) and then if I get some income, try other paid ways, right?
If not, then get everything fixed first and move on to building the list. So if not, what else do I need for my website? Others make money without websites Right? well could you then give me a way that can work without using my website.
Thanks for any help you may offer.

Start with putting a link to your blog/squeeze page,
    in your warrior profile signature.

Learn about list building, sales funnel and email marketing and traffic generation.

Further down the track create your own product.

        Jacy,

Have you given any thought to identifying your perfect customer?

Said a different way, what audience are you going to target for your offers?

It makes little sense to try to build a general email list as you might get some subscribers who are interested in your freebie but will most likely not be interested in your affiliate links or product offers (later).

Identify your audience as exactly as possible, then target your traffic getting to the places where these folks are found online.

Offer a freebie that will help them - not something that you grab off a PLR site unless you re-work it.

You want to become an expert in your niche and you want to be seen as one that really wants to help/assist your customers. Therefore, every bit of information you send to your list (and your prospects as you market) should be something designed to benefit your customers.

I question the wisdom of hitting your new subscribers with a bunch of affiliate links right off the bat. Is that really in their best interest? Probably not. You might generate a few commissions but you will also give the impression that the only reason you're asking for their email is so that you can bombard them with offers.

Establish yourself first. Let the list see your persona, your quality content, and your desire to help them, your knowledge and expertise in the niche. I think they will respond better to you if they see you care about them. Remember, people buy from those they know, like, and trust.

        The very best to you,

        Steve

          Thanks for the advice.
No I am not bombarding them with many affiliate links. I just want to build trust even if I don't make much at first, it feels good to have people even being interested in reading your freebie, so what I may sell to them is not my priority, the trust and content and knowing that I am helping with my contents.
How I do that, I search my niche like on face book and lke and post on the pages under my niche. I do that to forums. Is that what you mean by identify my audience or there is better ways?
          Thank you.
