Using blogger for niche blogs?

Hi guys...

I'm setting up a lot of micro niche websites.
I was thinking about how I could save some money in the initial fase.

What if set up mu niche blogs on blogger.com (or free wordpress).
Would it be as "easy" to rank for keywords?

Suggestions and help much appreciated

Blogger is a good platform because Google will index the sites quickly as it's their system. But you will always be better off with a proper domain. Keywords in the domain count for a lot.

Maybe look at getting a shared host, i.e. Hostgator do them for under $10, and you can host unlimited domains, all you need to pay for is the domain, under $10 again.

If you don't want to buy loads of domains, also consider Squidoo pages or Hubpages. These get indexed very quickly and are ranked high.

Well.. I don't mind buying domains, afterall one domain is only about 8 bucks right.
The thing is, I know that if I want to make a living online, I really need to make about 2-3 niche pages a day. As things are now, I can't afford to use $24 everyday on domains.

I'm not 100% sure about what I'm doing yet and therefor it could be very cool if I do some things for free.

If I set up a lot of blogger blogs, then I could just go and buy domains foe the ones that were generating income, right?

Oh, one more thing. Would it hurt my rankings on blogger, if I use one account to create a lot of blogs from (all with difference subdomain ofcourse)?

I think you should use both. I set up a Blogger blog and a wordpress.com blog and the wordpress blog ranked weeks and weeks quicker than the blogger one - and they were both related to the exact same niche.

The content was slightly different, but not so different that I thought it would make such a difference.

See what works for you (your only cost is time) and go with that, but as it's been said, having a blog on your own domain is so inexpensive (around $10 a month for hosting and less than another $10 per year for the domain).

I have around 50 niche blogs on Blogger. As with anything else when it comes to SEO, it's a matter of having good internal and external SEO.

Internally, the simple Blogger templates like Minima are well optimized out of the box but can be tweaked a bit to improve things slightly. And, of course, having your primary targeted keyword in the blog name, aka subdomain URL, is important too.

Externally, you need to link build just like with any other site. Social bookmarking, directories, dofollow comments, forum sigs, etc, etc. The typical stuff.

Wordpress.com is good for careful link building but make sure that you don't use it for trying to sell anything or for excessive link building because they will shut you down quickly.
