Default Escape From The Desk

I have a few busy forums. It's taking too much time to maintain them. I need to get rid of the spammers, moderate and attending to support requests.

With forums, you have to deal with hundreds/thousands of people and make an income that does not co-relate with the time involved. The members get a free service from you and think you own them a favor and need to answer to all their requests.

It also carry the risk and hassle of people threatening you with lawsuit because someone else post some bad reviews/comments about them. So whenever you go for holidays, you need to get someone check your physical mails at least once per week.

This is not the "internet lifestyle" I envision. I don't see myself doing this everyday.

What type of internet businesses offer you the real internet lifestyle?

Are you having a real internet lifestyle and your business give you with good income? No point having the lifestyle but bad income.

My goal is to make myself as dispensable as possible to my business. The lesser the business need to attend to support issues the better. Outsourcing is a solution but I prefer a business which does not have much support issues to attend or outsource to.

Some typical internet lifestyle strategies. What's your idea, comment about pros and cons?

Newsletter Marketing
Online Stock Trading - con, still need monitoring.
Online Forex Trading - con, same as above
Selling Ebooks, Softwares - con, still need to attend to support issues.

It might be time to look at hiring someone. You may need to also consider charging for something you have been offering for free. I reached the point you are at a couple of years ago. It necessary and healthy to step away sometimes. Make sure you do that. I think you will find it will all be there when you get back.

Well, we all want to run a business that requires as little attention as possible and still runs great, but in real life it can be a quite difficult thing to achieve.

In your shoes I would definitely outsource this work to someone else, preferably for a relatively small fixed monthly rate and use my newly-acquired free time to improve the existing business, start working on some new ideas and maybe just get away from the computer for a couple of hours (day), because this usually helps me see things from a different perspective and has yielded some great ideas for me in the past ...

You'll always need time or money to make this work: time to do everything by yourself, money to have other people do it for you.
