How has your organic traffic strategy changed?

I've come back to marketing after a one year hiatus. Around this time last year, my most successful site was hammered by Google, going from a couple of hunderd visitors a day, to basically zero.

The culprit seemed to be the wide variety of payed inbound links I bought from Fiverr gigs.

I've been out of the IM world since then, so I have a few questions. I really don't want to make the same mistake again.

How has your organic traffic strategy changed over the last 2 years?

Wondering if Google have clamped down on traffic generating methods such as article writing, and payed links via Fiverr etc..?

What methods are currently most effective for free organic traffic?

Are there any Fiverr gigs or social media strategies that are still worth investigating?

    @Condra - The answer is to be far less heavily reliant on traffic (direct rankings) from organic search in "G". It's either that or be prepared to evolve as the 'SEO' game changes according to algorithm changes. What "G" claims to reward is often contradicted in real world testing. As for 'article marketing'... it's not dead but 'article directory ranking' glory days are over and those that have built their business models around that particular 'loophole' have had to find new ways to generate targeted traffic.

    Somethings have changed while somethings are still the same....For getting more organic traffic you shall need very high quality content, perfect On Page SEO and social media promotion....You should just keep working hard and then you will get the result which you want...
