How Do I get My Website Noticed?

Hi,

If anyone can help me, I am new to internet marketing and have got a website to sell ebooks. But i'm at a bit of a loss, what is the fastest and easiest way to get my website noticed by the search engines, and how do I get traffic there without spending a fortune buying traffic that might not convert anyway?

Any advise about marketing my site would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

The first thing that you need to do is submit your site to the search engines and then build traffic through article writing and building backlinks in blogs.

Search engines will crawl your site in their own time, but if you want to speed up the process you can try paying a 'submission' service to take care of the process for you, or try a free option like this: Free Website URL Submission - Submit Google, Yahoo, MSN

Also, whilst it's hard to say without knowing what kind of format your site is presented in, regular fresh content on your site always keeps people (and the search engines) coming. The more content you have, also the more pages you have that you can build backlinks to. Social bookmarking is a great way to build your backlinks. Check out OnlyWire for an easy way to submit links to multiple sites.

My traffic driving methods involved joining Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, participating in those communities, and linking back to my site. Drives a ton of free traffic - but it's not instantaneous.

Here's the thing - I don't believe there is any FAST method to drive a lot of traffic to your site for free. If you do social networking you get a lot of quality, targeted traffic, but it takes time and effort.

If you use PPC, or write press releases and pay a lot of money to put them on the better press release distribution sites, that drives traffic quickly but of course it costs money.

I agree with Dana_W, there is no fast method to generate traffic. Often time driving traffic is the most challenging task in IM. As long as you work hard, you will get the traffic eventually.

There is one fast way to get traffic and to test how your traffic will convert, that is ppc. I wouldnt recommend jumping in without help, but it is a fast way.

Other than that I would just do quality content, that should get your recognized, however eventually, not quickly. Keep submitting everywhere you can and creating a buzz. Ask people who visit to submit you to social bookmarking sites, and keep building.

If you're looking for a quick fix, then PPC is the way to go. If you're looking for long term then SEO is your best bet.

If you can afford both do both, they work very well together when used correctly.

You can SEO a site yourself, it's easy and quick to do.

    Hi animalpc,

Here's another method of getting low cost traffic:

Go to USFreeAds.com, join as a Premium Member ($10 a month)
and create free ads using your main keywords in the TITLE
and in the CONTENT of your ad. Then place a live link
    pointing to your site.

    Craig.
