    I prefer not to give a specific answer, but my list is xx,xxx in size and it took me about 4 years to build. I got there selling software.

    I have multiple lists 65 of them all in different niches, some are around 2,500, some are around 50,000.

    It took me three years to build my lists up.

    My list building came from:

    - PPC Ads
    - Lead Generation
    - Acquiring Companies
    - Acquiring Mailing Lists and converting them into my own
    - Joint Ventures
    - Ad Swaps
    - JV Giveaways
    - Magazine Ads
    - Newspaper Ads
    - Flyers
    - Storefront JVs
    - some other tactics


    I make a living off my lists.

      Is the saying that every subscriber on your list is worth $1.00/month true?

      If you have a list of 10000 subscribers, are you making $10000/month only from your list?

        Good question to List Gurus

        Right now i have less then 200 subscribers. Started my lists a few weeks ago. One of them (a free ebook offer) gets 5-10 opt-ins per day. Have great hopes in this one since i am going to use it to promote my incoming product.

        It totally depends on how the list was acquired.

        But in most cases I would say yes, you should be able to make $1 per month per subscriber on your list. If not, you have a really poor quality list and may want to look into other ways of acquiring prospects.

        For instance, I'd wager prospects from a free giveaway promo usually aren't worth 1/5th of what prospects generated from PPC would likely be.

    I don't come close to the $1 per month, per subscriber. But I also have no sales funnel in place - I pretty much only promote affiliate products. I see where I'm leaving a ton of money on the table still, so I am in the process of finaly fixing this

    For PPC with a little wallet, concentrate your efforts on banner advertising instead of text advertising, you will deal with less competition and lower cost per click.

    Jason, what's the difference between PPC and Freebie opt-ins?

    I don't understand that well the difference between a guy clicking a banner/ad and a guy coming from search engines (after a specific query) and receiving a freebie, but I do want to learn the best ways to develop a good and profitable list.
