What is this type of business called?

I initially started writing rails web apps for fun and profit whilst in college. On top of that, I started making small SEO affiliate and adwords sites to add to my collection, as well as domains - but most profit came from the high traffic web apps.

Now I have enough money to hire a few developers and start improving my web apps, developing new ones, as well as buying/selling domains and smaller SEO sites.

What would you call this type of business? I've got a name and logo but I don't know exactly what the business description would be - a web development company? but we only make apps for ourselves.. an internet marketing company? but we build web apps too..

Just focus on your main selling point, and once you have people's attention only sell them closely related services.

I'd call you an app developer. It's that simple

Either choose a hybrid name combining two businesses activities or separate your activities into two sister websites and linking to one another. Check Envato as an example since they have different websites with different activities that you may find inspiring. Good Luck

    Why bother then?

If it's just for yourself you will not need a description unless you forget what you are doing. LOL
