I'm trying to load Wordpress to a domain (sub-domain) in Fantasico. I've done this many times before, but I'm getting a message I've never had: ===================== "The installation can not be completed: - You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain." ====================== Yet when I go into File Manager, there is nothing in that domain except "cgi-bin", which I assume should be there after uploading a sub-domain. 1. Should "cgi-bin" be there, or 2. Should I delete "cgi-bin" and then load Wordpress? Some of you will know this is an ignorant question but that's why I use Fantastico ![]() Thanks! |

The presence of a cgi-bin shouldn't prevent Fantastico installing Wordpress here. Is there anything in it if you open it up?

I might mention, in case this is a clue, that I used to have Wordpress on this same sub-domain, but I not only took Wordpress off of it, but deleted it from my Hostgator account as a sub-domain. So it was completely gone, and I just re-added it as a subdomain.

That's really odd. Is that subdomain definitely mapped to the folder you are looking in?

My knowledge of the internals of Fantastico is pretty much non-existent so I'm guessing here. | |

If your File Manager shows no files *except* a cgi-bin your File Manager maybe isn't showing everything. If you had a Wordpress there before, it may have created a MySQL account for the domain and you have to see and delete that. That could be "script" it's referring to. Look into MySQL and see if Wordpress is there.. |

If you installed via Fantastico, then the log data is stored in a folder called .fantasticodata inside your hosting account. Just remove the file that related to where the blog was installed (in the Wordpress folder) and you should be able to then re-install. There's some info on it here - Remove Fantastico Scripts - Lunarpages Web Hosting Wiki Hope that helps! Tony |

Click on Fantastico, then click "Wordpress" in the left Navigation column. Check "current installations" and Remove what needs to be removed. |

Hiya Someone else had this problem a couple of months back and I helped them solve it. So I have copy and pasted my answer from their thread to yours .This has happened to me before this is what you must do: 1. Login to your hostgator cpanel 2. Go to "file manager" 3. click on the ".fantasticodata" folder 4. open up "installed_in_root.php" and edit it. This is an example of what I mean: If you open up "installed_in_root.php" you will see something like this: $installed_in_root["dateonlineinfo.com"] = 1; This is what you need to delete. (this is just an example from my "installed_in_root,php" file). Keep in mind that every install of wordpress you have made will be stored in this file, be very carefull not to delete any of your other wordpress sites out of it. I hope this makes sense lol, I'm not very good at explaining things. |
