Assisting Businesses to Grow

I am new to internet marketing etc. Upon reading many of the posts here, I would like to get feedback on the following idea that I had for a while in terms of assisting businesses to become more marketable/profitable.

I am thinking about doing a test trial to see how it goes first with a least 3-5 friends/family members first who owns a business, which can be provided in a full package or part of a package: What I had in mind are as follows:

Look at small/medium businesses via my local telephone directory, facebook and other avenues and research to see how the businesses are performing

Contact them to see what the performance is like.

Inquire if the business has a facebook page, a logo, website etc.

Based on the response, come up with packages by providing services such as content for their website/blog, a logo design for the business, get the business on google map, setting up a facebook page and other features

N.B. - the features will come in packages

Upon offering my services get a progress report in the next six months and make comparison of the performance of the business - a then and now in terms of sales etc.

Please note I really do not have much experience in some of the areas, but I am willing to research/learn as much as I could. Also what strategy should I use seeing that I am not an established person or business?

Any suggestion, tips and advice will be appreciated.

Consider investigating mobile web as an offering. It is a very hot offering for small business now. With the growth in mobile and the push by Google and other major players, there is a lot of effort to educate business owners to the benefits of mobile. Once you have this relationship it will open the door to the upsell of other services.

You say that you don't have lots of experience yet, but you are willing to learn (which is good). I would recommend that you start becoming the expert as soon as possible so that the businesses you are targeting will believe that you can help them. You need to get involved in the community and "be everywhere". Basically if they do research on you they need to find information that shows them that you can provide the services the need.
