How Do I Setup A WordPress Website

Hi.

I have been thinking about setting up a WordPress website selling some products. I do not know if I should purchase a domain name and hosting plan.

I would want to accept PayPal as the payment methods, and create drop down menus for products. Please can anyone who has experience of setting up a commercial website with WordPress advise me on how to go about this in a step-by-step fashion? I look forward to your replies and thank you in advance for your help.

    How can you build a store without having a domain and a host? If your business is small scale better try a free 'WP e-Commerce' plugin that lets you build a simple WordPress Shopping Cart.

      Ok... so, sounds like you're talking about an ecommerce site.

      I doubt anyone on here is going to give you a step by step guide...

      My advice, go to Google, or YouTube, and type in, "How do i build a wordpress site"

      That should get you started.

      It's a learning curve, like anything else... there's tons of free info out there, and also paid courses, this may be a better option, if you're serious.

      For a payment platform, check out bigcommerce

      Also, if you want a complete guide on how to set up an ecommerce store, check out the brown box formula, by Ezra Firestone... that's his real name...

      Google is your friend.

    Step 1 - Get a host and domain.
    Step 2 - Setup Wordpress on your domain.
    Step 3 - Buy an e-commerce theme from themeforest.
    Step 4 - Customize it according to your needs.
    Step 5 - Bring traffic and make $$$$$

    For the installation, I don't think you'll find more step-by-step than the official guide:

    Installing WordPress « WordPress Codex

    But for using Wordpress, it may help to pick up a book that isn't too old. Or see whether YouTube has any good tutorial videos that aren't too old.
