Hi Ant,

I have a WSO running, check it, and let me know if you need my design skills. But you can always look into Design WSO's, really great offers in there.

Good luck on your product launch!

Sales copy fees are all over the board.

Copywriters who have a proven reputation of writing letters that convert are going to be impossible to find for under around $1,000... You may get lucky searching the WSO forum and taking a chance on an up and comer, but it's gambling.

Also, keep in mind that copy is just part of the equation. You need traffic, you need a market, and you need a great offer.

Some copywriters (ahem) have experience with marketing their own products, and can help out with not only the copy, but the sales funnel, traffic ideas, branding, design and more.

To hire a top gun copywriter you're looking at $4,000-$60,000+.

Your sales copy is CRITICAL to making your site a success, so it's not a decision to be taken lightly.

Hope that helps, and good luck with the new site!

-Scott

I say this with your best interests at heart:

If you don't have enough money to hire a copywriter, you should seriously consider what it is that you are doing.

If you don't expect to comfortably clear over $1000 with your product -- what are you doing? This certainly can't be a long-term business proposition.

OTOH - a well-written sales letter can be a huge asset to your business -- and, other things being equal -- can be the difference between heart-breaking results and a comfortable (or more) living.

You can look at some of the copywriting information online, or some of the relatively-inexpensive books -- but you are trading time for money.

And most people tend to have some difficulty in accepting some of the things we copywriters say about what it takes to make a sale, what we say the nature of human beings is, what we say about how human beings make decisions. (It's ANYTHING BUT rational.) In fact, probably most copywriters have had some difficulty believing one or more of the things we've had to learn and have only come to appreciate it through the school of hard knocks.

You may be one of those people who manages to write a killer sales letter for their product right out of the box. Depending upon the product-creator, sometimes the product creator can actually do a better job. In general, I would say however, is that those are people who come from a sales and/or marketing background to begin with.

Okay -- I am talking about writing sales copy. That is a different cat than designing the webpage that the copy lives on. Most copywriters don't do both -- and for a variety of reasons, I think that a copywriter who is also trying to do the page layout & design at the same time is trying to serve two masters at the same time, and it doesn't work out well (in general.) Why? Because, even if I do the page layout (and I have done it on some salesletters) -- there are still other things that need to be taken into account. For instance -- making sure that the page layout "works" on the major browsers. I don't think a client is well-served to have a copywriter worrying about that when they should be worrying about the word architecture.

Anyway -- I could say a LOT more about this -- I don't have much to go on in terms of where you are in your product cycle, and a lot of advice would be dependent upon that.

You can contact me if you'd like to talk further -- or, if you decide to write your own salesletter -- I do salesletter critiques (at the time of this writing, there is a link to my WSO for them...)

I've personally found some really top-notch copywriters for hire at Guru.com and Elance.com. They charge from $100-$300 per salesletter, but it's really top-notch quality. Just be sure to check previous samples of their work.

Be careful they aren't violating copyrights.

I even caught someone here on the WF using a salesletter someone else wrote for them as part of their samples. (And yes, I even knew the copywriter who wrote the letter, and notified him...yes, I DO read a LOT of copy....
