Nathan, It's set by the admin, it doesnt go up 1 point for each click....it may be set at something like 25 clicks=1 point...... |

So what is there to keep this from being abused? I can see it now, the occasional spammer who gets in deciding to do stupid things like 'infraction' a bunch of people, or 'rep'ing their other account. While I think it's great that there's another way to tell who the good guys are, I think it makes more of an impact if your reputation isn't something that can be abused. Just like I'm not sure anything in this thread justifies rep, but I'll be honest, the request to test sure cried out to me that maybe, just maybe, this should be an infraction. But I don't know, and I didn't infraction anybody over it. But some ground rules probably need to be established in this area. I'd hate to see it abused to the point of being meaningless. Scott: I understand what your saying. Since this is a newer version of VBulletin than what I was use to at a different forum (where I was a moderator), I can't say for sure all the features are still here or haven't been changed, but there used to be built in measures to stop that. For instance, see my post above yours.It explains that every rep left, good or bad, shows up in your user control panel. So you know exactly who gives it to you,good or bad. If you get a bad rep,and it's uncalled for, then I would say contact a mod. I haven't checked yet, but there also use to be a feature that you could turn off your rep, so no one could give it to you.......in other words, you just choose to not participate in it. As far as this very thread being worthy of an infraction or bad rep...lighten up...right now a lot of folks are like kids in a candy shop due to the new forum Kim :-) |

Just think of those that have spent so much time carefully crafting and cultivating their "bad" reputation... What about THEM? This could blow their whole cover... Vegas Vince will have to once and for all admit that he's a GOOD GUY! : ) In all seriousness, I think it's meaningful to acknowledge the people that spend their time writing excellent posts - even if you're not likely to take time to PM or write somebody, you can at least say "Thank You" with a Rep Bump. Just another great new feature. I wasn't really prepared to set up my whole profile and everything today but I'm trying to take a minute and play with all the new toys.
