Which Kindle Advertisement is more Effective?

I am publishing a book I've been working on for a long time. I have had great feedback and really believe if it gets in front of the right audience it will do quite well (what writer doesn't feel that way ). I know there are many great books that never take off because of poor marketing/distributorship. I am considering different forms of advertising and I realize they are all pricey. My question:

Google AdWords

or

Billboard Advertising

or

Indoor Advertising?

Anyone have experience with these formats? Feedback is appreciated.

That question is absolutely all about "Who do you want to reach for Which purpose"?

as well as "What's your budget" I suppose.

It's kind of like comparing blueberries gooseberries to bird berries. Now, I don't know what bird berries are actually called, that's just what I've told my son they are called because only birds can eat them, and he will get sick as hell if he eats them. My point being that each is a berry, but each is meant for a different target audience / different medium of food consumption.

For a book - I think a billboard is probably a bit limited in scope -only those driving by will see it and most people won't have time to take in what it's about nor the ability to remember to go get it later.

What KIND of book is it? What's it about? Indoor advertising is limited to a city or space as well.

Google Adwords is only ONE kind of online advertising. Instead of saying Google - I would say ONLINE. I'd say more but gotta go get my kid from school and there are a lot of opinions coming I'm sure;.

Yeah, sorry for the limited info. It is a murder mystery. I will be selling it exclusively on Amazon (book form as well as Kindle). My budget is $2,000 - $3,000.

You should be advertising that online targeted to people who read mystery / murder mystery. Adwords is one route. You can also join several writers / readers community and advertise both via conversations / sig files as well as paid adverts in some cases. Since you are running it exclusively on Amazon I am guessing you are going to be in KDP select? In which case you will get 5 free promo days to give your kindle version away for free - which is good to bring in numbers and alert Amazon that your book is worth featuring in their listings. It also means you can submit your book to several "free book" sites with apps and thousands of eyeballs - you tell them what your book is, and when your free promo days are going to be. These sites usually have different levels of promotion - free most of the time gets listed but there are usually paid levels which will result in them featuring your book for the free promo days, and turn into a ton more downloads.

Which may sound counter-intuitive but the traffic is something Amazon wants to see.

There's some really great training around on how to promote your Kindle book in a way that will result in both sales as well as Amazon picking up massive on site and email marketing promotion of it. Createspace as well - and when you link your physical book with your Kindle listing that will increase both sales of the physical book, as well as lend "authority" vibe to your kindle listing (pay the extra $10 to have your own publisher name vs createspace).

I could go on and on but I am not making a WSO here, there's already enough out there.

My point is -you will get a LOT more traction with that money using various ONLINE methods (yes AdWords- but beyond that) than with the other two. You need TARGETED traffic and billboards / indoor adverts are not that for what you are selling.

Oh, and if you aren't on there already - Warrior Forum has a paid membership area for Kindle publishers that would serve you well. The ideas for promoting the physical book aren't that much different- start hitting heavy with the Kindle promotion, let Amazon start promoting the heck out of it when it starts moving volume, then bump up your physical marketing.

If you say Kindle, i assume it's should be published on Amazon KDP and make a hard copy on createspace.com.

One of the best form of promoting your Kindle starts from the pricing especially at the initial stage. You can start increasing price as your Kindle ranks higher on Amazon and sales dropping in. Also notice how the price affect the sales and make adjustment.

Make videos, tons of good videos targeting different keywords related to your niche and rank both on Google.com and YouTube using On and Off site SEO.
