How To Get Sample Product For Review Websites?

I really have grown to like the "review" site models, they have worked best for me. I had a personal connection offline in which I was able to get sample products to review, but now this connection is gone. I'm a bit lost now wondering how others are able to go about reviewing so many products in detail. I need sample products in hand because I do a lot of video reviews. Any ideas?

Don't know what your niche is, but you need to build credibility for yourself first. If any company is going to send you their product free of charge, in exchange for your review, you need to offer them some value! Hence, your review needs to be worth something... your opinion needs to be worth something!

That's not an easy thing to do overnight unfortunately.

That makes sense. So how would one start, is it best to buy the products?

        Unfortunately yes.

This becomes more or less a problem depending on your niche. For example, I ran a technology blog for awhile a few years back. Of course every time a big product would come out (I'm talking cell phones, gaming consoles, etc) I found myself going out of my way to either acquire the product, borrow it (usually from a friend), or just use it long enough to get a feel for it.

Once you're somewhat setup, it might start making sense to reach out to companies that have products you'd like to review. Now be realistic here... Technology (for me) was really tough, because no one was going to send me a new cell phone, computer, camera, what have you unless I worked for the WSJ.

It's a tough game for sure. This is where working with others might help to. Try getting in the door with guys/ gals who may already be reputable in your niche. Then you can sorta piggyback of their success.

Let me know if you'd like me to elaborate.

        Cheers,
        Ben

Well, well, I have done it with makeup and other things like books for people. You have to establish a blog for a couple weeks and write every day in it to get it to expand beyond the Hello World post.

Be sure to review things that you have around the house that is related to the niche that you are aiming for. If you don't have it, I guess ask a friend or so if they have it. If not, try a display if they have a live display in a store and play it for awhile if there isn't a lineup at this.

You will then have to contact PR of the company, rather than customer service. This link may say Media or Publicity. THIS is what link for email you will want. I know, because I have been there, done that.
