Questions about HopLinks and BuySellAds

Hi!

Basically, I have two questions and I would be glad if you gave me a hand.

1) I signed up for a program on clickbank and I am still searching for an appropriate traffic source. I generated a HopLink that looks like this:

http://J12.PROGRAM.hop.clickbank.net?w=32

The "PROGRAM"-term is the name of the affiliate programm of course.

Now, when I created my banners and connected them with one of these HopLinks on Adshuffle, the server told me that the URL of the HopLink wouldn't be valid, although it linked me to the right landing page when I klicked on it. However, the server told me that the URL actually was valid when I simply connected the "normal" URL of the landing page with my banners. (which I can't do because neither the affiliate program nor clickbank would pay me out because they would'nt recognize that the visitors came there through a click on my banner) Actually I think that the URL is valid although Adshuffle keeps telling me it isn't because the HopLink is somehow a step to the actual landing page, but I wanted to make sure I'm not wrong with that one.

2) Since I haven't purchased inventory on Buysellads (but I'm thinking about it), I wasn't able to figure out whether I am allowed to try different combinations of landing pages and banners on it or if I am just allowed to give them the URL of one landing page (the destination URL) and then simply rotate different types of banners on the website I purchased inventory from. (which was my first impression, but I would prefer the first option)

(sorry if my English is a little bit poor, I only learned it as a foreign language at school )

Kind regards,

J12

    1. maybe they just don't allow direct Clickbank linking. Maybe try and re-direct your links or cloak them. Also, maybe use your own landing page with your own URL and set the Thank You page as that Clickbank Link.

    2. Buysellads does allow banner rotation along with URL rotation. However, it needs to be approve by the owner of the website you want to place your banner on.

      I'm quite sure that Adshuffle allows direct clickbank linking. I just googled "Adshuffle hoplink" and "Adshuffle clickbank", and in both cases the question I posted here in this forum appears on the first page, so it rather seems to be an individual problem. I already asked the support of the affiliate program by the way, but I didn't get an answer yet.

      I also looked up the meaning of cloaking links because I never heard of it before. Meh, technical stuff, tried to avoid that.

      Could you tell me a little bit more about creating my own landing page? Now, I have this book from clickbank to promote, so I simply create my own landing page where I give the visitor some detailed information about the product and then I send him through a click on my Hoplink to the actual page to gather even more information and to buy the product? Is that the way in general?

      So it depends on the owner of the website - okay, thank you.

    Try adding a slash:

    http://J12.PROGRAM.hop.clickbank.net/?w=32

    It turns out that the slash-less version is a valid URI, but I wasn't sure off the top of my head, so maybe the ad server isn't good with nuances either! Relevant RFC3986 ABNF:

    URI = scheme ":" hier-part [ "?" query ] [ "#" fragment ]
    hier-part = "//" authority path-abempty

    authority = [ userinfo "@" ] host [ ":" port ]
    host = IP-literal / IPv4address / reg-name
    reg-name = *( unreserved / pct-encoded / sub-delims )
    unreserved = ALPHA / DIGIT / "-" / "." / "_" / "~"

    path-abempty = *( "/" segment )

      THANKS! Now it works. Even better: The non-valid URL sent me to the "normal" landing page without including the information of the HopLink, whereas the valid link links me to the page and adds this information at the end of the landing-URL:

      ?hop=J12 (so in case of a sale, the visitor "belongs" to me)

      Now I also unterstand how important it is to cloak my affiliate link. Must look kind of weird for a person to read the URL with the HopLink information.

      Man, just registered here and already got some very important tips. Thank you guys.

        The reality is that it doesn't matter very much, because this isn't a productive way to try to sell ClickBank products, and there are good and reliable and valid and consistent reasons for that. This approach is based on a misunderstanding of how and why this type of information-product actually converts. This thread may help you: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7110523

          Hi Alexa!

          Thank you very much for sharing these information with me. You showed me once again how important it is not to spend money out of the gate, but to learn AM in a theoretical way until you're able to avoid the most common mistakes that would lead into failure. Didn't spend a penny yet - and with every additional information I get I definitely know why. (because it would be stupid )

          I'll search for some other guides, I think the forum has more than enough content.
